rapiddog, read this

RD;
this is from Brad Black/down under; great minds think alike:

'i've become a much bigger fan of just disconnecting the o2 sensor these days. i wish we'd tried it back when we were doing the s eproms and i was really considering it when we did the r eproms. but it's one of those decisions i'm a bit loath to make. i don't believe there's any 'default mode' or any of that crap. the base maps are on the rich side ime to allow the feedback process some room to chase - so it'll run a little richer at low throttle. it's not that rich tho, and most who do it only experience a small increase in fuel use. if you then remapped on that you'd lean them out a little and it'd be fine.

From very early on in my modification process I disconnected the O2 sensor. The bike ran fine and I never into any problems. I think I had a discussion with Brad on this at some point and assured him the bike ran fine.

Also I ran the stock chip for a very long time with nearly all the mods I had done to my bike and never suffered any problems. Sure did go a lot better with increased fuel pressure and better again with the chip done.

I wanted to adjust the fuel pressure to richen up the mixture. To do this I figured that I needed to remove to remove the O2 sensor to stop it trying to alter the fuel mixture.

The bike ran fine without it and better with the extra fuel.

I also ran a K&N air/fuel ration led gauge with the sensor down stream of the stock O2 sensor. This allowed me to constantly monitor the condition of the fuel mixture.

Lennie;
If you're not using the stock 02 sensor for the original purpose of having the cpu do aa/f mixture to stoich, why not use the stock l02 sensor location for the 02 sensor that gives the a/f meter it's data?
use the stock bung and the aftermarker 02 sensor for the gauge...

Johnny,

I had a home made exhaust and it was easy to fit the sensor up.

I eventually re-connected the BMW O2 sensor and had a chip done by FIM UltiMap.

We kept the higher fuel pressure and tuned it to suit. A lot of places had fuel reduced due to the richness.

The interesting thing is my bike with all the mods is now running a stock exhaust with a 3.5 bar K regulator and the new owner says it runs fine.

Work that one out.

But you DO want to yank the 02 sensor and the CCP, acid, you DO. THEN (and only then so you don't poison the cat or 02 sensor) you can run some 'good ol boy' homebrew fuel
think of the fun you are gonna have when the guy behind you for the last 50 miles on his japhypersikkle pulls up at the stoplight and pukes outta his helmet because he's been breathing your extreme nitro fumes!!!
chemical warfare at it's finest! hehehehehehe!
