Euro Switch Part Number

In figuring out how to install my Motolights I'm trying to decide what type of switch to use. One thought was the BMW euro switch but we can't find a part number for it. If anyone has it can you post it please? Having heated grips I thought I only would have to buy the actual switch for the housing but noooo. Another is the invisible switch?? that you wire into the turn signal button, so no visible switch. The euro switch would allow me to turn off the lights completely but I've never seen a need for this. Any other recommendations?

Something else I'm looking for is a tank bag. I've seen the BMW bag and it fits nice and neat but a Marsee I saw at the dealer had many more features. What size is everybody using?

Lightbulb

John,

I'll search, but I saw a setup that utilized the turn signal cancel switch as on/off for motolights or any other light accessory. The accessory was activated/deactviated by simply holding the turn signal cancel switch down for a couple of seconds.

Any comments/input from the esteemed SENIOR members?

(whoops, what have I done....)

Found it!

Cycle Gadget's "Autoswitch" light controller. Uses the turnsignal cancel button to control aux. lights without affecting it's primary function.

Good luck!

WOW! That's the info I needed. 225.00!! The shame of it is I'd have to toss my heated grip unit out that has all the same buttons, except the light switch portion. Thanks for the help.

Why not take that $225 for the switch and a couple hundred for the Motolights and put it towards a set of HID headlight replacements. The end results is much better light output and less clutter.

I've heard a lot of talk about HID but frankly I don't know anything about them. Are they that much better? All I've known is they are very expensive. Care to enLIGHTen me? The other thing I just thought of was the light triangle of the Motolights and headlight making you more visible.

I have the Motolights with the autoswitch function. Its wired directly to the turn signal cancellation button. Very clean and doesn't cost $225 for a new euro switch. The benefit that I see to having the Motolights over just installing HID headlight replacements is that it gives you three points of light that really makes you more visibile to oncoming traffic. The difference is amazing.

You won't get the three points of light with just HID replacement lamps but they are quite distinctive compared to normal lights. It's amazing how many people pull over to let you by with HID's and for the best reason you have headlights is to see in the dark. There is no comparison HID's are better then Motolights in every aspect except close fill in (which is great for parking I guess)

Do a search many threads here

As I recall my Motolights on the RT were wired to always come on with the headlight so they were always on, no separate switch. The PIAAS were switched on with the euro switch. Mark do you find the need for a switch at all? Ever run without Motolights?

lemme tell ya;
thetre's a benefit to being able to turn out the rights and have the scoot run.
Having said that, I did my own homebrew light-cutout switch (no mean feat, my wiring harness is raped beyond any hope of an oem wiring diagram to figure out, but wiring don' scare me none)
HIDs are absolutgely by far the best light bang-for-buck. No, repeat, repeat, no comparison to anything else out there. NO KC hilites 'quartz' or 'tungston' or any other BS name will outlight HID (high intensity discharge, a mini horticultural light on the end of your motorcycle). None. Nothing, not 4 or 5 150 watt halogen piaas will even come close. period.
I have both HID low and high from trhe xneonfactory group buy and I con sider HID to be MANDATORY on any street bike I'll own. I also run hella FF50's as side-fill-in, with 70 watt superblue h4 bulbs...mainly to illuminate the deer on the side of the road.
OT, but BTW, I have 2 (two) each 100 watt superblue h1 OEM low-beam bulbs, unused, purchased for a project that got cancelled, I'll sell 'em for $20.00 each, which is a less costly (and less effective) alternative than 4 bills for HID.
But, HID, baby, the only way to fly in the dark. and that's with a 35 watt ballast. sopposedly, theres a mod to boost the ballasts to 75 watts and I can only imagine how bright that would be.

LOL. Good one JRR.
.
John D.,
.
If interested in info on HID's, you could do a search for HID - tons 'o info in the archives.
Opinions, where to get a good deal, which ones to get, how to install, where to install, etc.
Just about any wording w/HID in it will suffice.
.
HID
HID Group Buy
I love my HID's
I wanna massage your grandma w/my HID's
...etc.

Edit: For interested others...
