Question riding preparation?

Well I don't know about you guys but its getting closer to spring and I'am excited about another year of riding. What are you guys doing to prepare yourselfs your bikes and gear for another good year of riding? I can remember many days of drinking Jack Daniels and telling all my riding buddies how ready I was for a ride only to go out and have something fall off or break that I could have taken care of by doing or paying attention to my scooter. What are you guys doing to be ready? I'am sure since we l are all riding BMW"s were responsible and prepared?

"...riding season?....what riding season?...isn't it always riding season?...The SoCal Sage

oh, I dunno, scrub, wax, tune, fiddle with the bike, torque everything, up to snuff, set the valves and TB, clean fluids, yadda yadda, the normal stuff.

I like to prep my riding gear, wash, de-bug, saddlesoap, just generally freshen things up.

I go thru my tools and parts bins and get organized...
I like to make sure all my screwdrivers and end wrenches are aligned exactly parrallel in the rollaway drawers....that sorta thing...

We all know the basics , but I was thinking more about the over looked things, Like has the ammo in your pshooter been properly attended too. Is the clip in good working order and is the ammo fresh. Has the camera been properly loaded, and is the battery fully charged. Did the rat turds get cleaned out of the sleeping bag. Does that all important rain gear have any unnoticed tears or rips? These are all important things that need to be taken into consideration for that long cross country haul. Most of us can go all season on one oil change and maybe 2 seasons before tires are needed to be replaced, wouldn't you agree?

I'm in the middle of my annmual dialing-in-my-ride. Everey winter there's a new major mod, so every end-fo-winter there's a testing period beofer the serious riding to ensure my latest brainstorm doesn't turn to mud on the road.
And that includes requalifying with my carry pshooter while using the correct hand (left) while simulating holding a throttle in my right hand....those crimson trace grips sure let me nail the 10-ring offhand and twisted around*grin*.

Is that the type of gauge you can reuse or is it the disposable kind?
