Yepper. Since BMW was picking up the tab for the rings, he suggested some "while we're in theres." Cost was very reasonable, and it's a crap shoot how out of balance things are from the factory. He balanced the rods and pistons. In my case, the rods weighed exactly the same, but were different big-end to big-end and small-end to small-end.

SJBMW developed the maps with Dynojet for the wideband PCIII at his shop. I would think they would be the latest version of all that he developed. The exhaust version was actually done on a bike with a Remus, but Chris says all the exhausts are essentially the same anyway. My bike has the stock exhaust, BTW.

steve, does your PCIII have a USB port? I thought the SJBMW-specific ones were serial-port-connected? The SJ-flavor PCIII uses a wideband 02 sensor?

Mine's the pre-BMW specific PC, one adapted from a Triumph application. The map would also print out with the rpms showing double the actual rpms. I've never hooked up my laptop to it, either.

how do you talk to that one? does it have a serial or USB port? Gotta be some kind of connection to be able to upload a map to it....

Never talked to it. But I could. If I wanted to. We just go our separate ways...
If you really want to know if it's USB or serial, I could find out. That unit has no wideband O2 sensor.

I din't think ANY PCIII had a wideband 02 sensor ecxept the BMW variant. Dynojet says it's thier most advanced unit to date, 'cordin to the guy I spoke with when I ordered my AF meter; he specifically made me state it was for a bmw 'because the BMW PCIII is the only one with a wideband 02 sensor or the hookup for an AF meter'.
I'm just trying to squirrel your map outta you, but then you DID know that, didn't ya? A little 'social engineering'...coupla shots of don Pedro tquila for a peek up your map's skirt *grin*.....

Jony, if you really want my map, I'll get it for you. I would think you'd want to put in the wideband unit, and then just fiddle with the 80-100% throttle mapping. My bike has no intake and exhaust mods, and I believe yours would do Dr. Frankenstein proud. If you for some reason want a PC without the wideband, I'll sell you mine and replace it with the newer unit...

I DO have a wideband unit; what I wanted to compare were the numbers off the 02 sensor control regeime.
Contrary to popular belief, you CAN and MIGHT want to mod a wideband PCIII map for the times the 02 sensor is NOT running the show, like right at cold startup; the 02 sensor, heated or not, does take some time to get up to temp and one can readily see and hear that when a cold start is initiated. as for the frankenstein part, why, I'll take that as a compliment.....and yes, I HAVE 'tuned it to a standstill' before. If you never break anything you never learn where the limits are, eh?

No balls, no babies.
I'll try to pull out the map. Be interesting to see what formula Elke's been sipping...
