R12S belly pan painted ; and you can blame Steve Carlton if you don't like it...

...eh...Mr. Carlton ; would you please leave the room for a few moments..., I like to show the final product...

...and yes Mr. Carlton, we used your photoshop design-attempt...

...but because, as you wrote, you didn't want to see the pictures anymore... ; again : please leave the room for a few moments...

...thanx Mr. Carlton ! (we'll call you back in a few moments)

...for all others : I will post a few better pictures ASAP (also pictures from the right side) ; but I've been (too) busy cleaning two bikes today...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161452104.jpg

...and as you see all four roundels have the same red color as the bodywork...

RoLoo 10-21-2006 10:04 AM

...belly pan from the right side ; it looks a bit if there is too much red on the b-pan, but in this picture the bike is on its sidestand, so you can see a bit of the underside of the b-pan...

...we tried to give the silver (optical) the same height as the silver stripes on the bodywork...

...the belly pan was first painted in black, then red and silver, and as a 4th layer ; clearcoat...

...in the cut out front there is fine mesh ; and on the whole front there is transparent tape...

...told ya ; had to clean two bikes...

*I'm not looking*

Skippy 10-21-2006 01:04 PM

Looking very good! You made the right descision by going with that design I think. On the second photo(of the last post) the design realy works very well and looks as a real part of the design that's on the fairing and rear. Custom BMW roundels aere also a nice toutch. Best looking R1200S I've seen so far just needs a Termigoni now...

ckcarr 10-21-2006 01:16 PM

Yeah, they all make fun of mine...

Steve Carlton 10-21-2006 01:43 PM

Your bike just gets lost in those red rock backgrounds, like a chameleon. You really need a black one.

Jeff Williams 10-21-2006 01:47 PM

Ron,
very well done, good one

Steve,
you do have good taste and a eye for style.
Good job my friend.
jeff

Very Nice.
Do you just buy those red roundels or are they custom made somewhere?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161471662.jpg

I think you need a set of these cylinder head protectors too just because they look cool.

I have money reserved for the mandarin / silver when it comes out. Unless its the HP version for $45,000 then I'd have to pass.

So does Ron get to use his new avatar?

mheck5 10-21-2006 03:52 PM

I hope you start selling that or some other company does. I love it.

turnerm 10-21-2006 04:32 PM

Are those real cylinder head protectors? Or Photoshop specials?

ckcarr 10-21-2006 05:01 PM

They are the same ones used on on the R1200GS, RT, ST...

...ckcarr ; these roundels are custom made. Thought the roundels could look real nice in red instead of bleu, so I asked the b-pan painter if he could give the roundels this color ; he airbrushed them, and after that he sprayed a layer of clearcoat on them...

...and regarding these cylinder head protectors ; I thought about it, but I think they are a bit too much GS...

 ...WHAT...another expensive mod...??
...tell THAT to Jeannet...

...next mod will be a hugger ; took me 4 hours to clean the bike yesterday...; dirt in EVERY corner (after only 20 kilometers on wet asphalt)...

...BTW hugger ; as mentioned before I don't like the carbon fibre look on my S ; so I thought about the (CF) Ilmberger hugger, and have it sprayed. My thoughts are a red hugger...

...can someone photoshop me red hugger...:)

...BTW : Termignoni exhaust ; are they available for a R12S...???

Still think a hugger looks bad on most bikes but I understand the dirt part living over here in Zeeland. I would probably go for a cf one with a red painted mid section so it would look kinda like the front mudguard so it wouldn't look so massive. You could also paint the black cf bit to match the black on the engine and rear drive(so a nice dull black finish would be great I think). I have seen pictures of Termigoni systems so would think they are being sold by now but I can't actualy tell. They are insanely expensive though and think the stock end can looks rather nice as well and is more uniquely looking then the termigoni that has a slight hind of Ducati to it . Probably the coolest solution will be to just replace the down pipe and remove the cat for some nicer sounds from the exhaust.

That last picture makes me realy wanna own a R1200S but the ergo's aren't fit for me. Shure looks good though.
Nice picture and again the bike looks

Skippy 10-22-2006 05:07 AM

This hugger by Hornig is realy nice but is not being sold yet I guess. Picture it with red mid section and the cf bits on the side left unpainted. It already has the contours for where the red would look nice.

P.S. just found out that the Ilmberger looks exactly the same(probably build by the same guys to)
