R12S belly pan painted ; and you can blame Steve Carlton if you don't like it...
...eh...Mr. Carlton ; would you please leave the room for a few moments..., I like to show the final product...
...and yes Mr. Carlton, we used your photoshop design-attempt... ...but because, as you wrote, you didn't want to see the pictures anymore... ; again : please leave the room for a few moments... ...thanx Mr. Carlton ! (we'll call you back in a few moments) ...for all others : I will post a few better pictures ASAP (also pictures from the right side) ; but I've been (too) busy cleaning two bikes today... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161451956.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161452005.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161452028.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161452104.jpg ...and as you see all four roundels have the same red color as the bodywork... |
...belly pan from the right side ; it looks a bit if there is too much red on the b-pan, but in this picture the bike is on its sidestand, so you can see a bit of the underside of the b-pan...
...we tried to give the silver (optical) the same height as the silver stripes on the bodywork... ...the belly pan was first painted in black, then red and silver, and as a 4th layer ; clearcoat... ...in the cut out front there is fine mesh ; and on the whole front there is transparent tape... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161453667.jpg ...told ya ; had to clean two bikes... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161453706.jpg ...Mr. Carlton....Mr. Carlton....??... ...you can come in again ! |
*I'm not looking*
|
Looking very good! You made the right descision by going with that design I think. On the second photo(of the last post) the design realy works very well and looks as a real part of the design that's on the fairing and rear. Custom BMW roundels aere also a nice toutch. Best looking R1200S I've seen so far just needs a Termigoni now...
|
Yeah, they all make fun of mine...
|
Your bike just gets lost in those red rock backgrounds, like a chameleon. You really need a black one.
|
Ron,
very well done, good one Steve, you do have good taste and a eye for style. Good job my friend. jeff |
Very Nice.
Do you just buy those red roundels or are they custom made somewhere? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161471662.jpg I think you need a set of these cylinder head protectors too just because they look cool. |

I hope you start selling that or some other company does. I love it.
|
Are those real cylinder head protectors? Or Photoshop specials?
|
They are the same ones used on on the R1200GS, RT, ST...

...and regarding these cylinder head protectors ; I thought about it, but I think they are a bit too much GS... |

...tell THAT to Jeannet... ...next mod will be a hugger ; took me 4 hours to clean the bike yesterday...; dirt in EVERY corner (after only 20 kilometers on wet asphalt)... ...BTW hugger ; as mentioned before I don't like the carbon fibre look on my S ; so I thought about the (CF) Ilmberger hugger, and have it sprayed. My thoughts are a red hugger... ...can someone photoshop me red hugger...:) ...BTW : Termignoni exhaust ; are they available for a R12S...??? |

Still think a hugger looks bad on most bikes but I understand the dirt part living over here in Zeeland. I would probably go for a cf one with a red painted mid section so it would look kinda like the front mudguard so it wouldn't look so massive. You could also paint the black cf bit to match the black on the engine and rear drive(so a nice dull black finish would be great I think). I have seen pictures of Termigoni systems so would think they are being sold by now but I can't actualy tell. They are insanely expensive though and think the stock end can looks rather nice as well and is more uniquely looking then the termigoni that has a slight hind of Ducati to it . Probably the coolest solution will be to just replace the down pipe and remove the cat for some nicer sounds from the exhaust.
That last picture makes me realy wanna own a R1200S but the ergo's aren't fit for me. Shure looks good though. Nice picture and again the bike looks |
This hugger by Hornig is realy nice but is not being sold yet I guess. Picture it with red mid section and the cf bits on the side left unpainted. It already has the contours for where the red would look nice.

...the manufacturer is Ilmberger...

I BLAME STEVE CARLTON!

Good job Ron!
At the first moment I didn't like red/grey paint scheme, but looking at your bike I'm changing my mind. Time for a Laser exhaust (Jeannet permitting...:D) !!?? |
...Ron told Jeannet Ron is definitely out of Laser money... :)
...first a (painted) hugger... ...if I have a better picture I'll mail you one ; in real this color scheme looks very good... |
Roloo, that paint job is awesome! You and Steve really cooked up a good look for this bike and it nice seeing it become a reality. There was some other really early photoshop's that Steve had done for the R1200S before the bikes were even available that had a really nice addition to the paint scheme as well. Steve had photoshopped a yellow R1200S on Lennie's request that had a matching paint scheme on the tail section too. They basically had added paint to the top flats on either side of the passenger seat cowl section. Very sharp finishing detail IMO. Just a thought. Steve...can you whip one of them specials up for him?

I love the way it finishes the bike, very sweet. The Roundels shouldn't be messed with, very original though I would think. With that said I would say I like your bike very much, nice job.
|
Steve, that's the thread I was thinking about. Yes, HugoVW and jonnydanger are true photoshop masters, but you are definitely becoming a wizard yourself. Nice work.
Here's the painted tail section I was refering to that would look nice in addition to the painted bellypan, in red of course. Steve, I'll give you permission to modify this pic as you see fit. I'm sure Hugo and jonny won't mind...maybe Lennie will though. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161622912.jpg |
i like it

I ran it through my photoshop laundry with my red pajamas. Oops...

I replaced all seven blue roundels on my wife's black M Roadster with some that are Carbon Fiber (OK...fake carbon fiber...), and I think they really make the car look great. http://www.dougandjenhensley.com/MRoadster/roundel.jpg Up until now, I never cared much for the candy-cane paint job on the R1200S....but MAN....now I WANT ONE BAD!!!!!!!!! I just might have to bite off your style! |

see ; red/white roundels http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151649058.jpg ...I just like it to give a bike a certain different look by changing some little things ; and IMO the blue/white roundels didn't quite match with the rest ; now they do... ...and regarding to motoyoyo's idea of the tailpart in red/silver/black ; don't know...; think it will be become a little too much of the stripe theme... ; now there is a some sort of harmony. Busy at the front, calm at the back... ...what I truly like to see is a black exhaust on my bike...(not the pipes ; only the muffler) ...regarding the red roundel thing ; after buying the bike, and making the first few pictures I did this... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161630586.jpg |

I used to have a yellow roundel clock painted on the wall of my garage. Some loved it, some hated it...but I thought it looked cool (which is all that mattered since I was the guy making the mortgage payment). Plus it was dirt-cheap to do, and took up otherwise boring unused space on the wall in the garage. http://www.dougandjenhensley.com/MRoadster/clock.jpg |
That painted clock is cool!
