Thanks for the pdf link. BMW will be offering this pipe also, along with a bunch of other new accessories you can see them on the international website.
http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/index.html Why don't they give a weight with all that info?

Ivan...I see weights listed, but really can't decipher if that is for the entire AKRA system [see description]..but the Hp/Torque chart seems to reflect a common theme in all the data so far from all but BOS exhaust manufacturers (Remus is a TBA until we get the tests)..after market exhausts (cans, links or full system) only improve torque/Hp above about 5,000 rpm...and have DROPS in torque/Hp below that..my assumption is that I will be "living" more below 5,000 rpms than above..I really want the grunt on bottom 50% of rpm range...I guess I am spoiled by the FJ..but I love the acceleration pulls out of corners provided by a suitable application of HE,errr, torque...

Akra Exhaust with HEADER
My new AKRA full titanium exhaust will hopefully be delivered this weekend. I saw the link to the GPproducts site, but this is only the PDF for the slip on system.
Just click on the link on my site down here, it will show you the real treat. It's the pdf with the diagram for the full system. With the Akra headers. I think the slip on muffler is a waste of money: with the slip on muffler there is no real gain in hp. http://members.home.nl/boeijen.segers/BMW_R-1200S_EVO-0629.pdf Anyway greetings to you all on the forum. Especially my main man RoLoo. I'll wave when i see you riding one of those great Dutch Dykes ![]() Last edited by GraveYardDog; 11-23-2006 at 10:04 AM.. |

GraveYard.very interesting...first all the springs and header tubing bends a la Laser...and if I read it correctly significant torque improvements in lower 50% of RPM range...please post your experience with the system after you get it on...cost must be huge on complete system..if can/link alone is $1,895 us..

Thanks for the link. I was expecting more. The chart looks impressive until you look at the scale used. The system looks GREAT, but not sure it's worth the $$, i.e., bang for the buck.

Mal...I had trouble interpreting the chart for full system..but I missed your point about the scale? It does show the relative and absolute variance from stock to AKRA, correct? What I read as torque [thin lines] seem to really have a lot of spikes and drops..and the listed values for torque must be in metric units...sure ain't ft/lbs! The stock torque on this chart shows a huge drop between about 4,800 and 5,500 RPM..hope that is inaccurate! [might be vertical scaling issue]
As for price vs. value...bang-for-buck..unfortuantely at these stratospheric costs it may well not be in my future..even if I saw 10-15% increase in Hp/torque..

In Germany a guy initiated a collective purchase. He made me an offer I couldn´t refuse. The Akra is in a league of it's own with regard to build quality. Gotta decide for yourself if it's worth it for you. For me, I take pleasure in considerable weight loss and power gain. I'm not buying eye-candy like a belly pan or a red avatar (.... that's what I had to promise my wife ![]() BTW: The sight of red hot titanium headers is something else. Beats litterally the **** out of the brown headers! ![]() Greetings, GYD |

I can tell y'all right now how it feels. Damp and wet. Typical Dutch weather, lots of leaves on the roads. So not the ideal conditions on this side of the Atlantic for a shake-down. I've already put up a deck chair in the garage to accomodate me the next months while I'm enjoying the "scenery". Just thinking how beautiful next spring will be!
Weather stinks, dutch elections were a disaster. And yesterday my sister returned with a tan from Florida. It´s much better on your side, I´m thinking seriously about migrating! If it only wasn´t for my trouble learning spanish. ![]() GYD |

The Akra seems to be the best power gains for the street. I am a really big fan of Akra, but surprised at the construction of this unit compared to some of the stuff they have been producing for BMW Motorrad's race bikes. Biggest problem with Akra is supply. There are only 2 importers here in the US and neither of them gives a hoot about BMW aftermarket products. Both Lockhart and Parts Unlimited do not consider 50-100 units worth their time to order from Akra let alone 5-10. Not even worth puting the print or part number in their system at those quantities. I have had an order for 3 Akra HP2 slip-on cans through Lockhart (Parts Unlimited wouldnt even consider special ordering) since July 26th and now I am told maybe in January I will get the 3 Akra's I ordered, ridiculous. And while BMW is now offering a BMW labeled/Akrapovic slip-on through the dealer with warranty an all, its over $1900 just for the slip-on!!!

Ok, let's cut the crap. Today the mailman came with my birthday present, the full Akra-system in titanium. Those titanium pipes sure weigh almost nothing, very impressive. Especially when, after some hours of assembly-work, I brought the old stock-exhaust to the attic. That's real heavy metal! Took out the dB-killers and filled my garage with ultralight metal thunder! Just couldn't resist taking the bike for a spin. Impressions are from a 15 mile trip, so the bike still has to remap itself. Bike picks up much faster, especially in the area from 3.000 - 5.000 rpm. The bike has a lot more torque I noticed when cruising low-revved off after waiting for a traffic light. Much more push in the back. The engine break is a bit weaker. I liked the way you could control speed in corners by working the throttle. The road conditions were no good for checking out the way power comes up when taking curves. So no rubber signatures laid down on the asphalt this afternoon. Only had some fun lifting the front a couple of times, the extra torque makes it easy to play around. The sound? Well, greetings from my neighbours. Without the dB killers it's loud. Period. You get noticed and the bike finally sounds like a mean bike! With a screw you can put in the dB killers, comes very handy when going to the german Autobahn and Eiffel. Well that's all folks! I'm not posting any sound files. But you can come over to the Netherlands to have a listen. Free beer (voor jullie Amerikanen uiteraard Heineken Paardepis) included! GYD |
