Moybin-
My grandfather, my favorite relative, came to America from England in the '20s. During WWII he was in the LA County Sheriff reserves. Someone hand made this ring for him. The sheriff star as a bear in the middle. The grizzly bear is the state animal for California. I don't remember how much he wore the ring but after his death I found it and have worn it for the last 30 years. It is showing some wear but it is a great memory piece for me. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1241395342.jpg |

http://ckcarr.smugmug.com/photos/534429708_oxcX2-XL.jpg The gnats were unbelievably bad little biters. They can almost make you jump off a cliff! Interesting article, if you want to read it: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/0603/features/comb_ridge.html |
Yeah... been on the road in the background... ;)
That looks like you had a nice hike... |
...did you go on one of the roads the go along the ridge or did you come in from the backside, Craig?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1242098555.jpg ...actually, that is still within reasonable distance from the Buttler Wash - hiking wise - isn't it? |

Hey, where am I? (Had to bring to the top, is this thread finally running out of gas?) |
looks like the other side of town... Old Crested Butte, CO. with the road up to the ski village in the background on the left.

Oh this could be bad....Craig's lost in the west and it's real big out there. Quick...somebody take a bottle of water and go look for him. Tell us how it goes. |

Brock, It's the new Nikon 10-24mm DX I highly recommend it, if you shoot DX. I had the Sigma 10-20mm and the Nikon 12-24mm and sold both to consolidate. That was one of my first shots with it. Unfortunately, I can't really tell as I'm operating off my little Dell 710m with 12" screen in a dark motel room.

Breathtaking pics as usual Craig!

Good thing you learned how to cross those low water bridges when you were in Arkansas last year Dan. BTW be thinking about joining Jerry R. and me for the trip out to CO this July. |

Thanks for the invite Bill. When do you plan to leave for TOR?...how many days at the Rally and inbetween? ...if things get worse here I'll have more time off than I've planned for. Lots of layoff rumors going round about being off for the whole month of December or worse. Rumors of company wide 2-week shutdown in July too. I had a job move a couple weeks ago...my work at the Proving Grounds ran out. I replaced a young family man at my new position, an Iraq War Vet...his work contract was terminated. :( I'm thankful to be still employed and able to provide for my Family but it's difficult to watch others being let go...especially this young man who served his Country well only to be laid off when his Family needs him most. I'm reminded of the early 1980s when I was going to Junior College on my GI benefits and working nights at the Pizza Parlor to make ends meet...lean years indeed for many of us. Some of my classmates had children in College. Back then when you met a Young Lady her first question to you was not "what is your name?" but rather "where do you work?". I hope it gets better soon... |
I'll send you an email Dan.
