Cat Eliminator issues

hi guys,
i want to make my 05 BCR louder. I am thinking of getting a cat eliminator pipe. I was told that it would decrease the performance of the bike. Please advise. Any help or suggestions are welcomed.
Thank you

Ps: Do i need to re-map the fuel once i put the cat eliminator?
ps2: i have the laser exhaust as a side note

I have an '05 with the chip and cat elim.. Talk to Robert Foster, he's on the list.

Basically, he has the Laser cat eliminator and you will need the chip too.

If you take out the db killers in the end of the cans (2), you will get more noise. If you replace the cat AND take out the db killers, it will get very loud. I think he said it goes from 102db to 97db to 92db with the above mods, but call Mr. Foster to check.

Performance does not suffer, especially with the chip.

add correction: I have the db ratings backwards. 92 to 97 to 102 I think were the numbers, stock to no-dbkillers to no-dbkillers and cat elim.

I already e-mailed him. I'm waiting for him to get back at me.
What if i just remove the db killers and left the system as if, do you think it would help me out sound wise?
i'm not trying to scare my neighbors off.

It will get louder with the db killers out, but not obnoxious. Won't make any performance difference either. Again, to the best I can remember and according to Mr. Foster, the laser system is a zero back-pressure system with or without the db killers.

I found the cat replacement brought a small loss in low down torque but made the bike rev eassier(this without a chip). ICM with Laser's without db eaters it is very nice and loud(probably to loud all though my Buell S1wl with cf scorpion exhasut was louder)and I also found the bike to be running a lot smoother. Probably just removing the db eaters and leaving the cat in place will exactly meat your needs soundwise as the cat will still keep the bike quit enough(I guess 3 to 5 db increase when the db eaters are out).

If I'm correct there are two spot welds that hold them in place, these must be removed(drill or whatever) later you can put the killers back with bolts when needed. They can be realy stuck and have read of people using the handle of a hammer to get them out(insert handle preverably one that fits snugly and then move around a bit till they come out).

Go with Staintune! Sounds great and you don't need a chip.

Does anyone know how hard is it to take out the db killers?

Some come out easy, some not. I found that once the spot weld on the bottom of each outlet is removed, squirt a little Liquid Wrench, or something like it, around the edge of the db-killer, let it soak a couple minutes, then use the hammer handle, or anything that fits it snugly, and just work it around until it comes out. One of mine came out easy, the other I needed to use a small slide hammer to loosen it up.

Lose the Cat.... if you don't do anything else.....sound is a little louder and heat coming up between your legs is reduced considerably....

I put a 2 Bros cat emininator pipe on mine and didn't touch anything else. The sound is definitely much better and I didn't notice any performance change.
