2-up safety for my S. . .

http://www.babecage.com/index.htm

Maybe we can get a discount if we get an order for more than one. Who's with me?

Looks like a prop from the old Mad Max movies, at least it has shock value. It would be easier to buy the nifty Boxter convertable. This is like the cycle air bag, find another sport loser...

...how about a three wheeler with a canopy instead?

This is getting as much out of hand as the whole "political correctness"...

Riding motorcycles carries inherent risks... some you can control and calculate (i.e. how well you maintain your bike and your style of riding) and some you can't (unexpected changes in road conditions, the ignorance and carelessness of others etc.) ... but in the end, that is part of the "flair" and "freedom" of riding a 2 wheeler...

This does not only look stupid, but it is not functional either... it lifts the center of gravity - which will make the bike less stabile and harder to control - and only offers theoretical protection, maybe against grinding if the passenger has the luck not to get hurt initial and the presence of mind to hold on the the side not on the ground... both of which I seriously doubt...

...on second thought... while you are considering that, why not go for this: http://www.smart.com

...you can carry a fanny pack, will not get wet and may have slightly better chances in case you get hit....!?

interesting idea but the weight will cause handling issues, I think it is not entirely thought out, if this is going to work then you need to keep the riders inside the cage, which means seat belts,
wouldn't a car be easier?
and you want to keep them from hitting the cage or bike, which means airbags,
wouldn't a car be easier?
also the structure must add areo drag.
wouldn't a car be easier?
Hey when it rains maybe it would be nice to have a roof?

wouldn't a car be a whole lot easier?

bullet point:
Gives added protection from side impact & rollovers.

okay, side impact i understand, but what the hell is a "rollover"?
don't think i've ever seen a bike "rollover", though i've seen many play dead.
high-side, yes. low-side yes. endo yes.
but rollover sounds like what you do to your IRA at tax time.

smells like a good place to bring up a Trike: another "motorcycle" I don't get. I know there are some that have a handicap and need three wheels, but honestly what is the difference between a trike and a Miata?

I haven't ridden two up, but I've ridden with a large pumpkin on the pillion and saddlebags on. I can't imagine the horrible riding that would ensue with the cage. Furthermore, by seperating from the bike once jolted, you typically land on your hands or your side. Not into a 2" piece of tubestock. The injuries would be worse overall, IMO, if you were to contain yourself within the bar cage. Even better is that you get thrown around with the cage. And if the cage bends or breaks, so does the passenger. There's just nothing good about it but the hilarity that some entrepeneur got as far as making a prototype and a website so that the rest of the moto world can have a good laugh.

"Babe Cage" is so funny in that they try to make it sound sexy.

...Gigantic, you have NO idea how much I would like a decent one of those... I almost bought one a couple of years ago, but it was to much of a project and it would have been one to many at the time....

But I remember a time when these were still very common on German roads...

...tell him, if he ever wants to sell at a reasonable price... the isetta's that is, not the smart.

People do get bored of these things, you know...

Babecage will render babe fingerless on a lowside as she will instinctively grab the cage to hold on. Not a pretty sight I can imagine.

because with a trike a handicapped rider can still be out in the wind. plus a Miata has four wheels.
