5.5 Rear wheel w/ ABS

I have a 5.5 rear wheel from a track bike. How can I be sure it will work on my 02 w/ ABS.

Printed on the wheel:

MTH2 5.50X17 E
2 335 051
HW 2040 1a (I think-hard to read through the paint)

Your bike has iABS being a 2002 (not the ABS2 system). That wheel will have the 'tall' standoffs and will work on your bike. Dammit, I was hoping to have you sell it to me. I'm looking for a Mandarin rear just to mix up the look on the '00 bumblebee.

If it makes you feel any better the wheel is no longer yellow-been sand blasted and is on its way to being black.

Wait a second... I don't know how to check the part numbers, but this can be tricky, no? Doesn't an ABS bike need shorter standoffs to have room for the ABS ring? Why not call a dealer?

No expert here, but I believe the non-ABS bikes have shims behind the rotor to make up for the difference of not having the ABS ring. The diff between the stand-off heights seems to be from just the earlier ABS system and the newer integrated bikes, as in a cast ring or stamped ring, according to Sideshow's handy chart. Correct me if I'm wrong about the shims though!

No, the non-ABS and the iABS (not ABS2 that was '99-01) have the tall stand-offs. Stupidly (IMO) the wheels were not universal to the ABS2, which had shorter standoffs. Potentially, you could mill down the tall standoffs for an ABS2 version bike. THERE ARE NO SHIMS ON ROTORS though. Not yelling at cha, sheldonc, just keeping the facts straight for people using this thread in the future. I own a bunch of silver 5" rear wheels at the moment and have basically learned though my own trial and error that the chart in the link is correct.

Peterr, you will forever be unfogiven. I could have donated a nice silver one to the cause.

Thanks for the correction Sideshow. It is kinda stupid that things like that can't be universal, especially since I've just aquired a rear 5.5" as replacement for an '04 iABS rim, sent to me from a dealer that shoulda known that an earlier rim with the shorter stand-offs wouldn't work. When trying for fitment I figgered "hmmm I bet they shimmed this thang." It would seem this thing needs to go back for the right one, eh?
