"Requiem for a biker" video

This is a safety-oriented video, 12 minutes long. The last 3 minutes are statistics scrolling by in a non-English language, so it can be skipped if you can't read it. Basically, it shows a few minutes of enjoyable riding and many more of various crash videos and stills (many have been seen before). Being reminded of the horrors of a crash are worthwhile, at least for me. It helps to be reminded of the risks which should be minimized, and to be as defensive as possible.

Requiem for a biker
"Riding is fun but keep it safe."

SC - Thanks. I think it's about being "scared straight" or something like that. Crashes are scary. Observing some of the new era motorcycling street tactics is scary, too. Wait...let me pull up my Kermit chair and tell ya couple of stories...

OY, I couldn't make it to the end. Couple of those "turning left" visions will keep me up nights.

...most of them involving other vehicles are about trusting the other guy to do the right thing, a big no no in my book...the rider is 100% responsible for his own safety.

There were alot of crashes on that vid that were the result of pure stupidity. The decreasing radius on-ramp crash where the guy laid it down and got run over for example.

...and the double yellow passes. A lot of the riders were riding a little too fast during the left hand turn crashes.

The deer crash, those are hard to see coming.............D*mn animals, I eat animals.....................

Rapid , she was probably on her cell phone too. I can't believe the ones that look you dead in the eye and still pull out in front of you. Happens quite often actually.

"I can't believe the ones that look you dead in the eye and still pull out in front of you."

A NY taxi driver's trick is to ACT like you're not even looking, all the while holding your foot over the brake.

and here I thought this was something similar to that excellent CBC miniseries called 'the last chapter'; that miniseries flat blows away 'the sopranos' and has lots of *ahem* motorcycles, albiet the kind of motorcycles that have V-twin engines and riders that wear something called 'colors' (and no, there is NO 'pink' in those colors unless you take into consideration the pillion accessories)

I'm a MOTORCYCLIST and choose to identify myself as such...

The shot around the middle of the video where a bike crash in an intersection with a car and a police car appears just after that, it wasn't an accident.
That happened in Spain four years ago. A guy on drugs, took some hostages in a bank and ask for a motorcycle to leave. The police gave him the bike and a few blocks from the bank they cross a car in front of him.
At least they didn't shot him in the head.

'At least they didn't shot him in the head'

that really is to bad; I remember that one.
usually they have a more direct way of dealing with miscreants over there.
