All this talk about a R1200S HP has made me surface. I've been lusting after the R1200S since it was first released... and am somewhat in a position to commit financially at this point... and now I'm faced with the potential of an imminent R1200S HP release. If its on the dealer floors before the year is out I'd rather hold back... its not like I'm without a ride right now. If its in the 20K range give or take a couple, I'd be willing to throw money at it.
So whats the collective opinion as this point? (I recognize its all speculation, but indulge me nonetheless.) Last edited by two wheel tango; 04-21-2007 at 09:11 PM.. |

I heard from a very reliable source, that the HP2 Endurance will be available for the general public to buy two weeks after you buy the R1200S.

IMO if you don't see it in Sept. then it won't be until spring. But as a solace it could be argued that if they wait we won't be beta testing a Grenade.

Does anyone have any idea about the cinfiguration of the HP S? I'm curious as to how much it will vary from the S with sport suspension.

I'll take mine in black... blue wheels... blue rear sub frame. Sponsor decals on the bellypan. Just like the original pics when these bikes were first spotted.
I can't wait for the launch... hope they don't price me out. |

No doubt, it would be fun to have one, however last week I completed my 4th track day on my R12S and am not sure I really need the HP Sport since I'm 46 and don't race or plan to.
If I got the bike, would I be that much better on the track? I don't think so. I outride guys on more powerful bikes all the time, and have been shamed by some darn good riders on GS's. I'm not sure I need to go that much faster than what my R12S is capable of. So for me, I'll pass on it...for now...since its not available...yet...but then again, by the time it comes out, I bet I'm first in line to buy it.

OK, I guess if you read all the threads ie "Hey PP members from Le Mans..." I would have answered my own ??? A LOT more than I can afford is what I must confess. I'd have to cancel my Country Club membership--if I played golf-- to afford a HP.

A good friend of mine used to say that there was nothing wrong with his golf game that money couldn't fix. So, he had clubs made of exotic materials that were formerly reserved for things like the SR-71 Blackbird. Boron-epoxy shafts (found in the control surfaces of the F-22.
So, if you've got the quawn, (Jerry McGuire) anti-up and look good at Track Day. The worst you'll do is have a limited edition collector bike;but, ride it and don't put it in the media room and teach it to watch the plasma wide-screen. Me, I'd probably just end up loosing my license on a NC back road or whatever. |

Here's the way it will play out:
You'll buy a R1200S for $16K or so and about six months later, the new R1200HP will be available for $23K, and since the HP will be the latest and the greatest, your six month old R1200S will be worth about $8K trade in...but you'll bite the bullet and go for the HP anyway. Then the next year HP will be upgraded with a better suspension, more accurate fuel mapping, and a better clearcoat for $20k and 0% interest.

You ca ride now or ride later--Life is short and by the time you can afford one it's even shorter. Money is only how you keep score anyhow. I've found that sitting on the $$$ does nothing for my ADD (Adrenaline Deficiency Disorder).
