No point in side cases... the tank would be too small for touring anyway... buy an ST.

The exhaust leading into the can is what caught my eye. It say mucho grunt emanating from that horizontal twin. Don't think the valve covers look taller, which would hinder clearance, looks more like black powder coat which would diminish the size.

That price point if indictative of USA pricing will be weeding out the BS'er from the walking tall and ready. Would love to see it sub $20k, but that's not very realistic given the amount of exotic materials and one-off production pieces for this exclusive model.

Cool What will happen to the R1200S?

Tasty, very tasty but with the $$$ getting weaker every week vs the euro the price tag will be nasty;25000 euros=30000$...outch!
It will end up in the carpeted and heated garages of a few collectors but no big seller for sure. But a nice "image-bike" nevertheless...
To speculate on Ron's question what will happen to the R1200S?
If BMW was smart since they have now the "real sports boxer" the R1200S-HP should be supplemented with a R1200S-T Sportstouring brother as the spiritual successor of the R1100S a lot of riders are obviously still waiting for;hence the retirement of the R1200ST and weak sales of the R1200S.
Bring on the options available on the R1100S for the R1200S! And a nice factory luggage rack that was unfortunately never available on the R1100S and of course the big 23 liter fuel tank from the R1200S-HP that is so wasted on it without the ability to mount R1200R style bags...
A nice a R1200Sportboxer and a R1200Sportourer that would be cool!
Yummy...

Otherwise what a waste of a nice fuel tank without bags on the HP-S...

will go fast parts trickle down to the ordinary R1200S? are they even compatible? the thing looks out of my grasp otherwise.

A bigger fuel tank on HP-S, if it gets one, will be out of neccessity. And short of installing an intercooler and a compressor, I don't believe it's possible to get more power and grunt without compromising fuel economy. Compression ratio is already at max for 98 octane fuel.

I “love” the new R1200S HP2 !!!!, but still like what is now, or will be the “standard” R1200S. I find that my R1200S has plenty of really world HP/torque, handling and gas mileage for the “streets” and is comfortable enough to due 300+ miles a day, which is necessary for me to get to areas where there are less cops & chp to deal with. Also, I like the looks of the standard” R1200S, for to my eyes it kind of has a timeless, art nuevo/modern look to it. In addition, I hate tank bags and only use tail bag, which may not work conveniently on the new HP, and even if it did, by the other photos I have seen of it, it appears to be a smaller and focused machine – anyway one reporter’s opinion.

M Logo Nice!

Very nice!
Any idea when it'll be available?

Am itching for a race bike to add to the collection, and as of right now it's the 1098s.

I doubt it, from what I have heard the valves will be computer driven like on GP cars, no telelever, radial brakes... would be a good trickle down, other wise these bikes are as different or even more so than the R1100S and a R1200S. Sucks does'nt it....

It will be a nice Halo bike for the R's and it will probably help sell more R12S's due to its limited production to 200 units and the high sticker due to the hand built nature as Bobby wrote ealier in the thread. The R1200S will be a better road bike compared to the more track focused R1200SHP imo.
