Rotax didnt have a 72degree v-twin engine on their shelves.

...you can laugh at it all you want, repoe... but every time they have tried to introduce modern technology, the HD crowd turns and walks away... they are not looking for that high tech stuff, but rather for the rugged, antiquated look of a concept that was developed long before the wheel was available...

As for the Buell... I'll wait for the first model year to be gone, the initial issues to be resolved and then take a long hard look... that bike looks like it will be fun to ride (though not so much fun to look at... sigh). Our HD dealer will have a test bike soon... can't wait!

Anyone who has ever ridden the Aprillia Mille, knows what to expect from that engine...

The Aprilia uses a 60 degree v-twin.

Heck yeah! If you havent ridden one go find a Bombarier 650 quad to ride, amazing. For sure the motor will be the best part of this motorcycle. I kinda feel that while its a great motor to have in the bike, it kinda defeats the purpose of an american sportbike. I mean, would a corvette be more desireable with a BMW engine? Wait, yeah it probably would lol

...yes it does, but that is not the point... the point is that the Aprillia has a Rotax heart beating in it... if you have ridden ANY vehicle with a Rotax engine, you know about it's cultivated, powerful attitude... they just made a logical progression for the Buell Chassis...

These Austrians... they speak two languages, Rotax and Glock...

Well, if you take the Japanese brakes and the German developed Transmission out of the Corvette, where would it get you? ...and, if you'd make ti there, how would you stop?

Yes, you are right... sorry, I had my Brake manufacturers mixed up... point was the "American made"... in todays global economy, there are very few things that are actually made in one country - other than China!, that is!

you can even buy a chineese bike with chineese tires! Nobody wants to ride for Cheng Shin in moto gp. Well Toseland might do it "if its the right package." cause he wants to win.

and anyone who has ever worked on an aprillia engine isn't at your local harley dealership. the first year is going to be brutal.

i will never release my well earned hatred of buell, but i will probably stop making fun of them after this. it looks like a real bike, finaly.

Andre is still on active duty, stationed at Charleston AFB. He stops in from time to time on his weekends off. Tomorrow morning I'll take a few curves on Hwy178 in your honor. Then I'm going to stop by TS and demo ride a Hypermotard S. I know i won't like it.

Cheers,
Mark

Actually the bike looks good here. Too many gimmicks though, give me twin rotors up front. and gas and oil separate from frame and swing arm.

How soon before the first recall....

There's no oil in the swing arm on the 1125. Hopefully they won't have to recall and buy back the first bikes that ship out *cough*K1200S*cough*

Buell has had a number of recalls on past bikes including almost all that were put out in the mid 90's.

Glad I don't have a K1200S....

I'm a little stoked that such close-minded comments come from BMW riders.

I read endless number of times about that the paralever sucks because it's not the canonical telescopic forks that everyone else is using. If you asked me the paralever is the best think ever to be put on a bike after disk brakes.

How many times have toy read negative comments about the BMW turn signals...I like them better and I have ridden and owned a lot of bikes with "conventional" signals.

FYI on many (if not all) street bikes one one disk is needed in the front...it's more marketing then anything else.

Fuel in the frame? Why not if it works? The new Buell has 1 gallon more than my S...so more power to them.

I owned a Buell and swear to myself never, ever again.

But wow they have a real engine...and fa ew years of experience working out non-engine related bugs.

Moreover this is a street bike not a race replica. I'd love to have my old RC51 back but the riding position just sucked plan and simple. The new Ducati? same deal, a great machine for the track not for the street.

I don't race and don't even go to track days anymore. 100% of my riding is on the street hence I like twins and comfort, but I still like to drag my knees...

I'll keep my S for now and probably for a long time but this new Buell looks very very tempting.
