If you gotta hunt deer, I really prefer that you use a rifle. Blunt force trauma is definately hard on the equipment and the nerves. Glad you got a pass on the body Naked.

You must have great instinct and some incredible reflexes to survive that one. The tough a$$ bike didn't hurt. Not to mention a great bit of luck despite god's attempt at killing you. More good luck to you!

The one I rolled over must have been thirty pounds. I stayed upright, only damage was a shattered front fender. Only evidence was some fur pinched between the tire and rim. The doe had run off by the time I turned around. I felt very fortunate to escape so easily.

NR, glad you made it out OK.
The hunting season for Deer should extend 12 months a year................

Wow, glad to hear you didn't go down! I'm sure being on that tank instead of the R12S made the difference.

glad you're ok, naked. way to stay focused keeping the rubber side down after impact. good thing you were riding the humvee of bikes. if you were on an S, it looks like bambi would have clotheslined you right off the bike.

Dang, man. Glad to hear you're solid and mostly unshaken. I was looking at the damage and thinking 'hey, that's really not too bad.' Then I noticed the lack of pricey foglights. Ouch. I've cancelled on a lot of my fun for the year due to deer-induced expenses. Might make Arkansas in a couple weeks to hopefully do what the MO deer patrol wouldn't let me the first time around.
Best to you, naked! |

Thanks everyone. Being on the tank helped, no doubt.
Having OCD didn't help at the dealer, however. I walked out with a new bike Saturday. An F800S. I was so impressed with a test ride that I bought one on the spot. Should have know I couldn't only have one bike in the garage. This thing reminds me of my R1100S. Very linear power delivery and very comfortable for a sporty positioned bike. REALLY sweet engine. Not as much punch as the 1200 but the delivery is terrific!

Congrats on your F800S...If I read the last report correctly, it has a 5mph higher top speed than the R1100S.

I think it's good for a little over 135MPH. It steers MUCH lighter than any of the boxers I've had. Even sitting on the show room floor next to a 1200S. If you sit on both and move them back and forth it feels much lighter than just 20lbs less than the 1200.

NR, you might enjoy this,
San Jose has started work on their F800S for the October 8 hour at Daytona. Copied this from the San Jose Racing site. ![]() Quote:

This thing can book. I'm surprised to find my corner speed equal to that of other bikes already. Usually it takes me longer to get used to a bike. I feel, just like my 1100S, like the bike just fits in a real natural way.
