Some more info about BMW K1000RR
The German magazine PS has some more info on the new BMW Superbike. Apparantly the bike is extremely small because it used a R6 fairing
http://motojournal.blogspot.com/ Apparantly the numbers are 185hp, 190kg's (must be wet weight) and 318km/h fast. The bike was seen at the racetrack with several Japanese competitors and apparantly 1.5 seconds a lap quicker. Off course it is not known in what state of tune the BMW was but is seems they are on the right track... Hugo Last edited by HugoVW; 11-17-2007 at 01:09 PM.. |

Thanks, appreciate it. Should be a real animal...But I won't buy one.
I'm a 600cc rider now...1000cc superbikes are just too much HP. Last edited by Raging InfeRno; 11-17-2007 at 04:40 PM.. |

....to me it looks like a motorcycle that is going fast around corners...
Aside from the R1 Plastics... it could be anything.

in the first two pictures, its wearing R6 plastics... a very compact power plant to fit in there. the third pic is a different bike... open exhaust.

Does anyone want me to translate the Spanish to English?
An interesting note is that they nicknamed it the 'K46'. |

Google says:
BMW K46 The new German Superbike We hunted exclusively testers BMW working with his new superbike, the K46, destined to revolutionize the German mark. For what little we have seen promises to be a highly competitive sport. FC / MR Photos: Teamfotograf.de Coincidentally we have a team that worked frantically, mechanics, testers, engineers with laptops ... Acertamos see a GSX-R 1000-filled cables. The group began to look bad side, how would bothering? We made it clear that we were not welcome. We saw also a Honda Fireblade, a Kawasaki ZX-10 and two motorbikes black without any identification. The body of an era of R6, but it was clear that this was not a Yamaha, what the hell were watching? When he saw that the drivers of these mysterious black motorbikes, one thing was clear, it was BMW testers, but they had to take some precautionary discrete monkeys, with nothing to identify. Do We were ahead of the BMW superbike for 2009/2010! With an engine four in line comes under a Bavarian Asian bodywork. The motorcycle was not yet ready to be brought to the series as it was clear to see some pieces closely, but the degree of sophistication was surprising. The impeller is very compact, with the cylinders inclined forward, remembers a little engine of the Yamaha R1. Although it must be borne in mind that a propeller R1 does not fit a fairing of R6, so the four German online will be very compact. Drifting BMW has decided to change course and break its own rules to make a truly competitive bike. What we are witnessing has nothing to do with what we know so far as philosophy BMW, no cardán, no Telelever, even to get the first change does not sound anything… almost looks like a Japanese motorcycle: dual beam aluminum chassis, inverted fork , four in an escape. The final design we can only speculate, but one thing is clear, it will be radical. We imagine that the series will be silent intermediate less visible in the final model. The crankcase has been designed to leave room for this system that incorporates a large catalyst. The wheels are ultralight. Recall that the goal for this model is 190/190, ie 190 kg to 190 hp. The purpose is that the new model reaches 312 km / h. Almost nothing… The motorcycle you see is the future model series, not SBK racing being developed by the German team Alpha Technik. In 2009 and may even next year, we will see this motorcycle circuits. This copy came out of the box with force, cleaning and firmness. The track moved with surprising agility and stability, the tires stuck to the asphalt as lapas, conveying a great deal of power to the ground without anything failed. Was this an ABS motorcycle racing? Will traction control? Only one fact, lap were one and a half seconds faster than those made with Japanese motorcycles similar… BTW MNC also has the pics: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/204659/images/November%2021%20mcn%20main.jpg If you look at the exhaust it seems there is already a plate on it with a parts number and BMW? logo Hugo |

as in, 'to propel'
Yeah, I'd guess so. Babelfish still merits the spelling babblefish. Ditto google.

Looks like an "arrow" exhaust system.

Some knid of Transmission Drain Port Extension?
What is this below what I presume is the Trasmission?...some kind of extension to help draining the Engine or Trasmission Oil without making an oil mess on the exhaust system?
![]() I'd think this would be a liability on the street since it doesn't look very substancial...maybe just for racing and therefore a different casting without this extension for the street?

I think the disadvantage BMW faces is considerable in making a SBK. The Japanese get to revamp their bike every 2 years, so even if it comprehensively outclasses the Japanese opposition, it is likely that the next model update for the ZXCBRGSXs will put them back ahead. Then, it'll just be a more expensive bike with less performance.
However, Ducati do seem to face this obstacle well. Also, we do not know how far BMW is willing to go, it may be very difficult to match in its componentry. Certainly, some sort of traction control and/or unbeatable technology could be its trump card. |
