New R1200S

Got a new Yellow R1200S a few weeks ago. So far its all stock with a Garmin 450 bolted on. Here are a few pics I took today.

I've got my Marsee tankbag strapped to the rear seat. It makes for a great tailbag. The Garmin 450 mounted very cleanly, I am most happy with it so far. First mod up is HID lights, probably from CQ lights then I'll start looking at Pipes and Rapidbikes and such.

My first mission is to get out and log some miles. I've only been able to get about 500 on the bike since I got it. Tonight I'm gonna try to get another 350 before the weather gets bad.

Good to see you back on the board again.... You have any plans to heavily modify it like you did your 1100?

I don't know about heavy modification. I did all that when I was single and lacked bills. The best thing about the 1200 is that it doesn`t need to be heavily modified. I would like to fatten up the torque down low (Rapidbike?) and put on some pipes that sound really nice but other than that, I'm happy so far.

Bad Weather = the temp is supposed to drop about 30 degrees tonight and there is a possibility of rain. As much as I am glad to be out of Baghdad, it sure would be nice to have the weather.

I really dig the garmin. I've got a mount for it in my car too. It's a great tool for finding new roads and exploring while you ride.

I have an RB III coming... I'll post results/difference, once installed... my bike has the Akra Slip-on exhaust and it sounds VERY NICE!

As for the weather... we could do with some rain over here.... you can keep the 30 degree drop though!

Welcome back and what a nice diversion to come home to, yellow and all. Glad you're back safe and sound.

Enjoy the bike but "Make Sure" that your bike key does not have other keys on it's ring, that can lodge down into the top clamp center area where your Gramin is mounted. Somehow make a stopper for that area or cut the plug that came stock in your bike down to fit in snuggly next to the Gramin mount bolt.

"Heck of a bike in the tights, strong in the mid range, and hunkey on the brakes." R12S it is! Have fun.

As an --ahem-- older rider, I have come to appreciate the "big" Garmins a little more. Heading down to the bike show over the weekend, I found myself bent over looking over my glasses at my little teeny Garmin screen. Now I suppose I have to wear reading glasses while I ride?
