R1200S Owners: Two Questions

I am a new owner of this model. I have two questions at this point:

1. When I grab the bottom of the rear tail/license plate bracket the whole unit swings slightly from left to right, including the exhaust. Looking into the space between the muffler and whatever it clamps to (under the seat) it appears that there is some sort of swivel type of clamp. Is this right or is something coming loose?

2. The dealer said that the brake fluid caps can only be removed by the dealer. It is obviously not a screw on cap, I can see a little lock thing. What is the situation with this?

Those lugs/ holes with rubber in them, are pushed onto two pins under the seat - heres the view from under the rear seat, sorry I cant show you the undertail but there's a pipe in the way

...see the hex heads of the pins heading through the back of the steel?
and it all fits very firmly. That is to say that you have to back the pins out to get the silencer on and off. The pins have a knob / head on them that needs to be pushed into the holes, popped on and then tightened. To make sure, you'd loosen them off then stand behind the bike and press your hip or thigh against the back of the silencer. Pushing forwards will keep pressure on the pins and you can push it all together and tighten them up. If all that is right and the pins are in tight, there's no movement.

Its idiot proof - fortunately I havnt had the need
All the best

Probably the strap that goes around your muffler is loose. That happened to me, probably because it wasn't tightened properly after the muffler was powdercoated.

No Steve, surely I am right I mean I spent so much time on that response, doesnt that count for something I worked hard, even got excited about maybe helping somone. I lost my first reply and had to do it again. Even with my second attempt, sentences got cut out somehow. I cant be arsed going back over those missed bits now. Then you come along with "It's probably the strap"...pffft

"Serenity Now!"

In the picture above of the muffler, it holds the bracket with the two holes in it that slide onto the pins on the underside of the bike.

Steve, that sounds/looks like the area. How do you get at it to tighten it?

With exhaust removed, my ratchet set wont get in there because the heads are too big, even with the bendy elbow thing attached - I cant get at it from under the hole and from the side with an extension as there is a rivet head stopping progress - so I can only figure that one of these jobbies is required (its the next size up from your fairing bolts T25) mine has "T30" enscribed on it

...and would you beleive I got a $25 voucher from BMW for my birthday and this little tool set was $25 from BMW - Happy Days

Good luck
