11S Sport Suspension
Was this an option on the non-boxer cup and if so was it a factory option? What years was it offered?
Thanks in advance |

I had a 2004 BC Prep that came with the sport suspension. Made the bike ride like a wagon. Ohlins solved that.
fwiw.

Not sure about officially, but it showed up on some models, regardless of being reflected on the paperwork, ca. 2001, give or take. There were a fair number of undocumented versions out there. I'm not convinced even the factory can give a good answer on it. I once measured 3 different suspension combos on the dealership floor. Only one was officially a BC.

The reason I am asking is that I noticed on realoem.com there is a non-sport & sport. Since I purchased mine used I am uncertain which one I have. I would assume the non-sport?

Yellow springs = sport; I think the others had blue/gray springs.
Perhaps that varied too... |

The only difference with the early stock and sport was the colour of the spring and the sport had a longer casting on the bottom of the shock,as Roger said Bm have been messing with all sorts, the were some, before any of the cup variations with a shorter shock and short para arm

The factory sport shocks I ordered in 1998 for the then new R11S did have yellow springs, were longer, and required a longer side stand. Most of the initial 99 11S bikes had center stands but these were removed and the single, now longer, side stand solo'ed the job. Wide wheel, zero in the butterflys, switch to fat tip plugs, galfer pads, dot 5.1 fluid, and we were ready to roll back them..............
I still have my the factory sport shocks on my black 99 11S, and now am showing about 33000 miles on them. She still cuts the corners and sweet talks the bumps........so there you have it. Long live the R11S. |

ditto Dr. Curve.... I have a 2000 Sport. I replaced the shocks with Works. Really nice. Sidestand works, but is too long.

I still have most of the original advertising for the R11S. In about 30 years I'll be able to sell in on ebay for a postage stamp.
