New Leathers?

I’m in the hunt for some new riding gear and I’m looking at options. My 20 year old leather jacket is being semi retired. What do you guys think of the new leathers being offered from Aerostich? Of course they’re more than I can afford but…

Those leathers are beautiful & not so expensive if you plan to wear them for the next 20 years. Get the pants too & you won't need a rainsuit either.

I've got Dainese, Vanson among others. But I just bought a jacket from NJK based upon the features and the price. Very good right now. Buy a leather jacket, get a mesh or textile for free. Check them out. Very reputable firm with a long history with local SoCal racers.

Damn, $797 for just the jacket? I think that more of fashion than safty. If you're gonna spend that kind of money on just a jacket, then get a full suit for the same price.

Johnson will custom taylor a custom made full armored suit to exactly your measurements for slightly less than the Aerostich jacket. That being said, I do love my Darien jacket and pants...

and i'll throw in my unsolicited $.02-
are you doing track days? no? then why leather? yeah, it smells and feels good, and looks sharp, but on a functional basis, the ballistic cordura stuff with removable CE has leather beat down, no contest. nearly as good in abrasion resistance- cordura is lighter on your body, cooler in summer (the stuff breathes), warmer in winter (unlike leather, it actually insulates), and requires no rain suit. plus, you can wash it at home in the laundry.
leather was IT 20+ years ago. now, not necessarily so much, unless your demands require that extra level of abrasion resistance.
