SLOP in the Rear?
You guys call it end play, you may even call it something else? I call it good old fashion slop! Whatever it is I'm not sure? I'm not even sure where its coming from? The rearend was replaced at the 50K mark. The clutch was replaced at I believe 69K or 72K?
I suspect its either the driveline or the input shaft at the tranny? The symptoms are. When riding in the tight stuff side to side up and down, on and off the throttle, the bike is jerky in the rear like the driveline is fighting to catch up, I guess this could be called driveline lash, anyway I need to get it fixed before Top Of Rockies. Any of you pros got any idea where to start? Surgery to follow soon. At 82 K the R1200ST with the beautiful headlight that lights up the night is starting to show a little wear. Help appreciated. Thanks ![]()

Well, don't rule out the rearend or clutch, but you should be covered there.
I assume the trans input splines were fine, and that the paralever pivots were too? Driveshaft OK? Are we sure we're not just feeling worn shocks?

Roger, the Ohlins were serviced about 27k miles ago, I know they need to be serviced but I don't think thats the problem.
The problem seems to come and go and I can diffently feel it in the footpegs sometimes more than others. It feels like its in the driveline, but I guess it could be a number of things?

Fair enough. 27k is far enough back that I'd service them and eliminate a variable.
Since it needs to be done anyway, it's free troubleshooting. Keep in mind that a lot of coming&going problems are coming&going perceptions. Also, that if it were Shocks, then the problem would come and go based on roadsurface. Driveline lash only comes and goes, upon differing throttle usage. I'd analyze more before throwing money at it.

Bill still planning on making the ride, one way or the other. I'll see what happens between now and then. The R1100SBX is still in the almost but not quite ready state, should be back on the road by fall. I've still got a few things up my sleeve. Planning on making TOR
