Fortuna, CA breakdown/help?
Anyone near Fortuna, CA that might be of assistance? My cell ph# 916-807-0165 My name is Jim Bourque.
It's Sunday 6/29 and rental transports are closed here. Monday I can get an Enterprise rental to haul my broken down R1200S home to Sacramento. Looks like I need to stay another night at hotel here to do Enterprise thing. Thought I'd just see if someone has a better idea. I called BMW CrossCountry Service and I may try them back but do to the distance from here it may not be a feasible option. Anyway I won't have internet use after I send this off. So no worries just thinking of options. Thanks Jim |

Sounds like bad Fortuna...
Hopefully someone will give you a call, at least to buy you a beer or dinner.

Sorry to hear you broke down in route. Do you mind sharing what happend? I have been taking several long trips on my R12S and it has been real reliable, would like to know what to look out for. Hope you and the bike get home safely.
Thanks Robert

I originally posted for assistance to get on my way home to save expenses being out here. I will go out on a limb and say my problem "may" be a fluke occurrence, I have no reservations about getting back on this bike and riding to remote roads as I typically do. Cheers Jim |

Jim, Good luck to you. Atleast your close to the coast and somewhat away from the fires. Hear from my friend Bill who lives north of Arcata that the fires and smoke up 299, are really bad right now. Don't know about 36? There alot of places worse that you could be stuck, like Peanut or Hayfork.
I've literally been escorted out of town by the Fortuna Police and told not to come back until after Rodeo week was over. There is a little Italian restaurant and bar on the north end of town called Parlatos or something like that, it used to be pretty good. I don't think Eureka ever got another BMW dealer atleast there wasn't one there last year. Hope you get back on the road soon.

The pickup truck reserved for me by Enterprise Rent-A-Car was taken for fighting fires (all there trucks) but within an hour the agent somehow secured a cargo van. I'm home now. Fortuna is heavily patroled so I stayed in the hotel and watched MotoGP Jim |
