Another dumb question
Forgot to group my dumb questions ... I'm replacing the brake fluid (after the resevoir and cylinder got torn off :() on my S, and I appear to be out of brake fluid. Will any old DOT 4-reated fluid do, or do I need some magic motorcycle-specific brake fluid?
|
DOT4 is fine, DOT5 not fine. The Valvoline SynPower stuff is well-liked and widely available.
Some mechanics preach the gospel that you have to use brand-spanking-new brake fluid from a sealed and unopened container, but I think if the container is properly capped/sealed between uses, you're Okay for a couple times, although I wouldn't use stuff that has been sitting around since the Clinton administration. - Mark |
Ditto what Mark says.

If you stick the vacuum wine bottle seal in the top of a small wine bottle that is cleaned and dried you never have to worry about the air. You can buy them at any good wine store.

DAMN Bubba, always trying to bring the conversation back to your wine. I guess being a gov'ment employee, fine French wine is a perc of the job.....

Sorry we could meet up Jerry. It's just as well though. I came home with the motha of all chest colds. all that hand shaking.

drink? i thought we were talking about what to use in the hydraulic clutches. sheesh.
|
well, i was talking about how to preserve the unused fluid and go side-swiped.:)
Those seals really do give an airtight closure to the remaining hyd fluid and save the $$$'s. |
So, how much does this wine bottle vacuum seal cost as compared to a brand new bottle of Valvoline Synpower Dot 4 @ $3.49?
|
I do the same with my wine that I do with my brake fluid, screw the cap back on.:D
I guess they are both no good. :( |
