Thumbs up Check this out;unbeliveable,143hp!

Just bored surfing I found this...
143hp and 132nm from a R1200S!
Unbelieveable upgrade, from a stock R1200S making 118hp on the same dyno before.Easily the most powerful aircooled pushrod twin, period without a turbo or supercharging...
Still stock heads and cams but Woessner pistons, longer rods,Rapidbike, full Akra and BoxerBurner Airbox...
Check it out for yourself,as they have some other nice bikes on there too as tuned R1100S bikes and a R1150/1200GS "hybrid!Impressive stuff...

well well well, won't i be a happy camper once i put those pistons in! I got all the rest except for the airbox, and i just bought a set of BST wheels, after all i had to do something after cancelling the RC8 order! ive already pulled some weight off the bike with the HPE exhaust and monoposto running gear, so i am looking at the 20:20 program, 20 more HP and 20 less pounds! cool....

Where can you get a look at the Boxer Burner airbox? I Googled, but came up empty.

I think they will sell a few first in their own shop before they actually show it off.
To make some R&D money before someone else copying it,as the Boxerburner brought the power from 138 to 143..!!
Pretty impressive stuff especially with all the fat torque curve without the stock dips and valleys!
Now all that is missing is the rider being able to utilize all those horses...
The Woessner pistons/rods alone don't do anything for additional power.Just make the bike run smoother as the weight is down to 240 grams per set.
Less oszillation and faster climb of revs...
Curve will like the fact that the rods are longer...

R1100Sport, when you state that:
"The Woessner pistons/rods alone don't do anything for additional power."

You are 100% incorrect. If the rods are longer than stock and the stroke has not been changed the bike will produce more power at higher RPMs especially. The conversion to a longer RLR (rod length ratio), when combined with other helper parts (exhaust, ect.) is one of the only ways you can get this type of power from that engine.

Do you understand what increasing the rod length, while maintaining the same stroke, does?

The Wossner pistons are 13:1 compression, i assume that will generate more power.

Curve I just stated what the website said about said piston/rod combo.Smoother running and quicker revving due to less inertia/weight.The power advances are more due to the other modifications. The pistons/rods give more reliability due to less stress at high rpm's.Stock rods bend/broke during the R&D process...
I guess the tuner that got that much power out of a R1200S should know better...
Shreddr higher compression alone especially on a bike running already very lean can cause more damage than good.Be careful with getting the fuel map right when installing the parts otherwise burned piston and bend rods might be the only outcome...
There is more to it than only installing said parts.Experience and knowledge...

i am using the techlusion, which has rectified the very lean condition, i will try to optimize the settings after i install the new hardware..

If the rods are indeed longer, by at least 5-mm lets say, then the time that the piston stays near TDC will be mechanically increased there-by creating higher compression pressures when the big bang (combustion) occurs. This adds HP separate from the piston. If, as well, the static compression (piston) has been raised by a half point.......even more HP is going to be made.

A higher RLR adds HP separate from the pistons compression ratio. The pistons new increased 13/1 CR adds HP for sure. Their (rod and piston set) combined lightness and percise balance adds smoothness and quickness........and the story goes on.

Want more? It can be had by rebuilding the heads with lighter ceramic valves and matching seats, switching to titanium valve spring caps and keepers, coating the piston top and combustion chamber with low heat transfer ceramic, installing kevlar/carbon fiber push-rods with chromemoly tips, build and install titanium rocker arms that have been carefully balanced, dropping valve spring seat pressure by up to 10 percent (depending on the amount that the valve train has been lightened), and so on. Its all there.............if you have the time and want to do it.

Need more?? Have the pistons changed to two ring gapless design rather than three ring gap design.

The question becomes.........should I do all this.........or just buy a HP2?

God forbid if a R1200S gets up and goes faster that a HP2 Sport.
Bring it on Shreddr

Curve, I seem to recall a pretty tricked out and juiced up airhead in your collection?

Some people like to tinker. Some don't.

One could buy an HP2 Sport. But if that person likes to tinker, he's going to tinker on the HP2 Sport too.

You can tinker a lot before you spend more than the difference between a R12S and HP2S. And if you add the cost of tinkering on the HP2S too, the difference is even bigger.

Shreddr is a inspiration to us all and with his care and attention to detail should be able to get his R1200S well into and past the range of a stock HP2. Bravo to him and others who love these engines. My time has got too short or I would be building up a push-rod R1200S as well. More power to all our modification bound, tinker lusting brothers.

<...coating the piston top and combustion chamber with low heat transfer ceramic...>

Might as well do the intake and exhaust ports, too - cooler surfaces on the intake side help limit fuel charge heat-up, and insulated surfaces on the way out help avoid heat-soak from the super-heated gas going through.

I can't wait to read the results when Shreddr's finished - I'm prolly' going to replace my S as the daily-driver with an 800 twin, and once the S is only a toy ...

Nothing exceeds like excess.

Well friends

Hope that this doesn't sound cynic (it is)...but why bother with an ancient pushrod motor?

I'll post my graphs soon (where's my scanner? I mean the working one)> RB3+ full HPE + K&N > 128.5 rwbhp (rolling dynostar). Why bother asking more? Is it worthy?

That said nothing beats the HP2S motor. My old goat struggles to do the job whilst the other thing...what a creamy power delivery.

PS: obviously, top end power means nothing...all that matters is the middle range thing...

Peter the roesner guys got all that power + a fat torque curve!
Curve the rods are 2mm longer as the pistons are shorter.
No need for all that bling you mentioned as it really does nothing but co$$$t a lot!
Longer rods are good for less cylinder bore wear as also for a few nm in torque due to the longer arm...
Shreddr the techlusion is probably too primitive for that kind of application.
I would get me the Rapidbox from thoose boys with the right setting based on their dyno and real world experience.
Otherwise I would probably leave the engine alone as you take the chance to open up a can of worms...

Ron,the 1150/1200GS Hybrid is pretty cool.I wished he would offer this conversion also for the R1100S and all our prayers would have been answered...

Cynicism is solidly supported at my house, so no offense taken, but why not? Throttlemeister's economic comparison is spot-on - HP2s are nice, but I'll have more fun with the same budget on my S. (I couldn't really go that much faster on the new one, anyway.) The high-comp/long-rod motor shouldn't give up any of that mid-range you mentioned.

That is not much of a "long rod conversion" after all. 2mm longer is not much at all but helps a little bit. So what is the eye to eye length given for the aftermarket rods? 120 something-mm or so??
