Worth getting a warranty?

I have a few days to decide whether to purchase an extended warranty (Western Warranty allows you to purchase at time of moto purchase or within 1 year.) It is $1000 to have 5 years from date of purchase, $1600ish for 7 years. (Had I gotten it with the bike they would refund the cost if I never used it....)

The main reason I'm interested is if I sell the bike (it's an easier sell with a warranty) but I can't imagine it will come into play (versus the factory warranty.) Any suggestions? A few years from now would you pay $1500 more for a $9000 used bike with a warranty?

I think it's cheaper to self-insure.

I never buy an extended warranty................take the money that it would cost and put it into some kind of savings account.
That way if nothing goes wrong, YOU have the money.
Plus I do not trust most aftermarket warranties.........they always try and get out of paying for repairs somehow.

If you're not going to keep the bike beyond the factory warranty, I wouldn't get it. First off, the next owner would be covered by the factory warranty. I don't think anyone would pay anywhere near $1,500 extra for a bike with an extended warranty.

If you're going to keep the bike beyond the factory warranty, it's worth talking about. You're just buying insurance, so it boils down to what's covered, the deductible, the price, and the quality of the warranty company.
