I'd own one of these in a heart beat. Not a first year model for sure, but yes, I'm interested. I think black would be the color, but I like the Red White and Blue. Especially if the price is south of $13,000.
I thought the Honda VFR 800 25th edition in Red White and Blue looked good too.

Where did the $13K price come from? How does anyone think BMW ( bring money with ) can deliver a high performance bike for anywhere near 13K? A base R1200S was in 14k and change. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/nono.gif

Jonas The Swede 10-08-2008 03:06 PM

the cost to be on top!

This is what someone said to the question whether someone had already ordered one!
"I am one, maybe even number one.... in Canada at least. Where in the U.S. are you located? $18,999.00 Canadian dollars is what is on my sales documents."

I sure hope you are right as I might be interested. Seems like it will be hard for BMW to get the price down that low as all of the new Japanese 4s are at 12 or higher(new 09R1 is 12,499. I would be impressed if they got it under 15.

Thanks Ron, I like the new sandpit...

Those forks alone are worth $10k. The sound of the engine on the official site makes me thing big bang engine (see new R1). If this bikes sells for less than $15k it will not have those forks for sure.

hjr1100s 10-10-2008 09:53 AM

The only reason this is an exciting bike ....

... is because it's build by BMW...

It looks good, but nothing special.

Maybe (I sure hope, I would be even more dissapointed if there was'nt) there's some interesting technology inside.

I love the sound of straight cut gears.

There will be a S1000RR at the up comming big So Cal motorcycle show and a good chance at the Nor cal Show.

Any note taken on the variable cam timing design, or how it works? Does IT NOT HAVE vct?! How can this be, what with no vct?

Wasn't it announced as BMW's own Double VANOS?

Dr. Curve 10-16-2008 06:47 PM

Been out of touch, what with my son's recent accident, and may have missed it. My information months ago said VCT was a for sure and I posted here............just hope I was not wrong.

HugoVW 10-17-2008 06:40 AM

You were right Doc, it hasn't been confirmed by BMW yet but MOTORRAD wrote it has double VANOS "double-VANOS system, the timing of the intake and exhaust cams are continuously variable throughout the majority of the rpm range"
