I like the heated grips best when it's a little cold out. When it gets colder and I go to the high setting, I'm not thrilled with my palms only being super warm. If I was riding in really cold weather frequently, I think I'd rather have a heated long-sleeve liner w/collar and gloves.

I bought these for the wife's bike but I have not installed them yet.

$30 and they come with a different wattage for each side so they will feel the same. The stock BMW grips are warmer on the right side and cost $400+.

I'm a big fan of Gerbing stuff and connectors from Eastern Beaver (the Gerbing coax connectors far better than SAE connectors).

But if you want warm grips, 35 feet of #31 AWG on each grip (you can lay it down four strands at a time), wired in series, with an MX033 "model train" 15 Amp DC controller (it is also a good choice as a Gerbing controller). Cover with elliptical cross-section cork rubber-impregnated bicycle handlebar wrap. Piece of cake.

I installed dual stars on a Honda a few years ago and they worked great. Just as warm as the stock heaters on my R1100S. They had a hi/off/low switch that i ran through a relay and switched power. It was money well spent for I did a lot of commuting by moto at the time.
