Different cat converter (font muffler) on BCRs than standard S ???
Does anyone know the difference between the old cat converter (front muffler) 18121341033 (models before 12/2002)
and the new listing for 1812687567 (models after 11/2003) ?? Something to do with different emission standards in the US or Europe perhaps? Since after market cat eliminators are a scarcity for the R1100S, I'm thinking about having a go with my cutting torch on an older cat converter to see what's inside and possibly modify it for air flow. And the answer is...
The cat converter/front muffler 1812687567-01 (off 2005 BCR) has an indentation on the top and back for clearing the swing arm and the larger tire on the BCR. Mostly looks to be for the taller suspension on the BCR, not sure if the indent for the tire is really needed, perhaps when the tire is rotating at speed and centrifugal force pushes out the center of the tire? Part number 18121341033 (standard S) doesn't have the indentations. BCR # 18127687567-01 on the left and standard # 18121341033 on the right. ![]() Part # 18127687567-01 ![]() Part # 18121341033 ![]() Last edited by duegi; 12-28-2020 at 03:34 AM.. |
