New Discovery channel show: Cafe Racer
I DVR`ed 2 episode's today and I loved. I did not think I would as I thought it would be like one of the dozens of reality shows where all they all fake fight through the whole show. I will be watching this one.

Macfly, thats true with about everything on tv....including the news, I watch 30 mins in 10. Seabecks, I can`t watch tv without recording...too much A D D going on to watch commercials that are NOT targeted at me.

I'm reduced to watching reruns of 2011 MotoGP races that are being shown weekly.
But DVR is the ONLY way to go unless I want to be brainwashed by Flo on the endless number of Progressive commercials. BUT tonight, Wednesday 1/25 at 9pm (est) there is a piece on riding the Tail of the Dragon- the Discovery channel, I think. Program is called "Hell Roads" ![]() Hopefully the commentary isn't by some nitwit who has no idea about riding. We'll see.

I looked for it on Netflix with no luck. I ended up watching another discovery channel documentary on food crops. This is unbearably stupid. These discovery channel documentary don't teach you anything, the repeat the same thing again and again, like they expect the viewer to be some kind of dumb 60 IQ person... The number of factually incorrect assertions is just stunning for supposedly educational content. Giving a lot of useless but huge numbers. so to be the meanest and the biggest, don't make the program cool, it makes me feel like the authors think I'm stupid again. Most of it sounded like a corporate advertisement, or some nuclear industry educational film of the 60's, feed spooning amazement of how "awesome" the industry practices are, with no question asked, to the stupid; there were a share of controversial issues just skimmed over, like integration of corn in every food (and what about the suspected impact on diabetes ?), or replacement of natural crops by hydroponic production (what about taste?). In a free market democracy, citizens are supposed to be informed on issues, if this is the kind of information source they have access to, no wonder why everything falls apart. I hope these motorcycle documentaries are not alike, it is just insulting at some point. Rant completed, anybody knows where to put a hand at these quickly ?

While it's nice to see a show about building motorcycles where the principles aren't drama queens, I fast forward through most of it, too. I'm hard pressed to see a lot of difference between flowing silk scarves, dozens of pins on a black leather jacket, & pudding bowl helmets and the HD guys dressed as pirates. For me, it's about the bikes - not the lifestyle, so that's the part of the show I enjoy. Gawd I love DVR's -

Eric Bostrom probably doesn't have good memories with his involvement with the series. The episode where he was shaking down a freshly built cafe bike that had a malfunction. Front wheel locked up and he got tossed. Was not ATGATT. Had Levi's on. How do U say "Road Rash"
Good show though mostly commercials.

For some of you guys I`m sorry I brought up the show. I am not searching for life skills or guidance in any way....just thought it was a cool show. I guess I need to cancel the order for my cool leather biker jacket with biker patches on it.

I like vintage bikes and shows about non-chopper bike building, so I was happy to see the show appear. But the way they straddle a story line across three or four weeks, each week parceling out a tiny morsel of new material and spending the rest of the time rehashing what they've already shown or previewing what they plan on showing gets old real fast. And it is confusing keeping track of the episodes since they often have repeats right in front of a new show. Probably just the outcome of tremendous budgetary pressure to produce ten hours of programming with a budget for perhaps two.
Some of the builders are very good, but others throw together ill-conceived contraptions that I wouldn't feel safe rolling down a short driveway. In the twenty or so bikes I've seen built, I've yet to see one that is racy in anything other than appearance. But its about old bikes, so what the hell - I'll DVR it and skip through it in ten minutes or so. It surely beats Jr. vs. Sr. Is it going to continue on? I got the impression it was cancelled after the 2nd season. - Mark |

They certainly sensationalized the roads. But, then again, there is such a shortage of quality shows anymore that I end up watching 1,000 Ways to Die and Oddities.
