The top photo is of the endurance race bike before being painted and the bottom is of the production version. Note the quick wheel-change bits on the end of the front stanchions of the race bike along with the abbreviated front fender. If you had a view of it, you would also see that the rear wheel has a single custom nut and the usual lug bolts are replaced with positioning studs. Also, the exhaust system on the race bike is Akrapovic, while the street bike has one which will meet the Nanny State requirements. Of course the street legal package of the lights are mirrors are different. What is not visible, and is likely to be present, is a more sophisticated electronics package on the race bike.
Other than that, they are about the same.

Oh, if we want to pig out, you bet........lots of differences in the two bikes. Note the custom made front end slider units (with their quick change as mentioned bottom slider) and their custom cut support bridge. Titanium valves in the top bike but not in the bottom is also possible as would be changes in piston design to just have one compression ring and one oil ring on the top bike.......while the production unit remains more traditional, and longer life. One would have to think that the transmission gears would be cut if needed and polished out to reflection standards. And what about those brakes on the top boy........still carrying the ABS ring we see........one can only imagine how strong that set up must surely be. Someone built those carriers of notanium and the non-BMW front wheel is ultra light and easy to turn and stop. I also like that the brake fluid and clutch fluids are carried near the center of the bike rather than out near to the bar ends.......less weight out near the ends to help turn quick if need to. The top bike has a taller rear end, either a 2.62 or a 2.53 or so. Taller than the stock 2.75. Top bike is so way faster and revs higher, quicker.

Dr. C....you are deep into speculative territory. Remember, Chris H. has one of the race bikes. He was given his choice of those AG brought over for testing at Daytona. Dean posted photos of Chris' tear down. So there is no longer a big mystery as to what is inside.
There are several possibilities of final drive ratios, but that would be determined at each track and the final drive swap made there.

Agree Kent. Just excited for the younger BMW riders who will get to play and learn on this new bike. I just hope Chris and the dealership there can weather the financial time the state is having. Are you getting one there in Houston? Nice running in the Hill country NW of you as you know........not so curvey...........but miles and miles of lonesome roads with sweepers and such. The valves and pistons won't matter, thats for sure.

Curve, how are you enjoying your HP2S? Are you getting to run it like it was intended? I would love to try one out some day and see how it compares to my modded R12S, I am still pretty smitten with the HP2S, who knows maybe there is one in my future!

Excellent, many thanks for the explanation. Wonder what the rear wheel horsepower of the black one is?

Guessing somewhere in the low 130's to upper 120's. After all the extensive engine and fuel injection mods Chris H. made to the endurance bike AG sent him, he is getting just below 140 RWHP.
