Crashed my Megamoto

On Wednesday I put my suspension on it's "track" settings and headed to the foothills. The bike felt great. Much more stable and responsive than it's been on softer settings. At the last minute on the way home I decided to take a small detour to my favorite road up here, hwy 193 thru Chili Bar.

The bike was handling great and I was pushing it just a little compared to my normal pace but nothing spooky. While coming down a steep drop I needed to scrub off some speed to set up for a right hander. I initially squeezed the front to settle the chassis then squeezed harder. I felt a shudder from the front and I was on my face in an instant.

As I crashed I was quite PO'd since I knew I was down but there was nothing I could do about it. I was very disoriented when I got up. The bike was on it's left side but the right side valve cover had been scraped too. I don't remember the bike flipping. My arms and legs were working OK but my abdomen was in major pain. I was helped by passers by 3 out of the 4 that stopped were either medics or nurses....how lucky can you get? I think it only took about 30 minutes to get me to the hospital. The medical guys were there in a flash.

Injury wise I've ruptured my spleen and bruised my kidneys. A few very small scrapes outside of that since I do wear full gear. I was in the hospital from Wednesday morning until Saturday just after noon. They took great care of me at Marshall in Placerville. Can't say enough nice things about them.

I went by the dealer on my way home. The bike didn't really look that bad but the forks cocked so hard to the left they they caved in the frame. I think the insurance guy want to total it for that reason.

Right now I'm just glad to be alive. I'm still quite sore but I can move about as long as I don't go too fast.

I'll keep everyone posted on the status of the bike...and me but I'm sure I'll be fine.

Ruptured spleen?
they removed it, right?
it's a common racer injury..you can say you did it at the bottom of the corkscrew at Laguna

glad you are still with us.
buy the bike back and get a C&J or Nikkobaker frame for it...

Dear Mr. NR,
I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. The ruptured spleen sounds especially scary. I hope you recover completely & fully.

P.S. which bike did you wreck?

Glad you are alive - we can't replace you!

Will you go for another Megamoto? Is that how it works? or can you get something else if you so choose?

Anyhow - get well!
