BMW Roundel I need your help in finding a R1100S

I also posted this in the For Sale section but wanted to get as much coverage as possible. I am trying to track down a specific R1100S. I traded in a 2003 Phoenix Grey R1100SA at Gina's BMW Motorcycles in Iowa City, Iowa, on June 3, 2005. Gina sold this motorcycle that same summer to someone who lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. (If my memory is good) I would like to track down this bike in the hopes of buying it back. I also emailed Gina to see if she could help in the search and have not heard from her as yet. If you have any info concerning this bike, it would be greatly appreciated. This bike has a great deal of sentimental value to me and finding it would turn my life around. Thanks for reading this.

Do you by any chance still have the VIN?

I do have the VIN number. Have the paperwork for every motorcycle I've owned since 1974. The interest rate on my 1974 Honda CB750K, from a bank, was 14.67%. Purchase price of the bike was $2,110.80.

Run a carfax on the VIN and see where it is, or if it is still registered? It won't give you owner info but at least you will know if it is still registered.

Tried it on carfax with no success. In fact I tried several bike VIN numbers with no success. Is there a site specific to motorcycles?

Hmm.

Get a part time night janitorial job at the dealer and when everybody leaves snoop around.

Perhaps Carfax does not work on motorcycles, I thought it did though, but I may be wrong, I often am.

Regarding checking vins, I've tried both carfax and autocheck. With either service it's been hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, no rhyme nor reason why. I could not determine if it was related to brand, makes or models. Very maddening.

VIN check

Just ask your dealer to check it for you.

I remember in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds dude just went down to the DMV and they gave him the info. Does that really work?

Ask the dealer to contact the person they sold it to and tell them you're interested in buying it back.

tjs: Thanks for looking. I do remember getting that fixed under warranty. The quest continues
