R12S frame question?

Is the frame steel or aluminium? I know the sub frame is ally but not sure about the trellis main frame.

The reason I ask is I'm thinking of raisng the foot pegs by cutting the lugs and welding them higher up.

Cheers

Steel and you're going to do what!?!
What brought you to this decision? The bike has loads of ground clearance for the pegs. Just curious.
By the way, as simple magnet can always identify aluminum from steel.

Cheers Cageyar, just a thought.

I know Sandbar make some rearsets but they're way too expensive.

OK, I've calmed down but doing frame surgery just to move your pegs a few MM is a little extreme-not to mention refinishing the frame so it looks right.
Wunderlich sells a set of Rizoma rearsets-not sure how they compare in price to what you are looking at but save your money and then buy a nice set.

This would be like conducting brain sugery by chopping off ones head. I'm sure you can find an easier way to make yourself more uncomfortable.

Man, I wouldn't mess with the frame. You start cutting and welding and you're talking about stress risers, changing the composition of the metal, ohhhhh.

Might I suggest these relatively inexpensive adapters? You can raise or lower the ORIGINAL pegs (and rotate each through 360 degrees).
At 170 Euros they probably cost less than the fabrication expense you are facing otherwise.
And, the process is reversible.
And, the adapters have a resale value if/when you decide they aren't for you.

$0.02
Cheers,
Ian

I thought the c*nt should have rotted in jail but it wasn't up to me. If he did it or didn't he was convicted and until otherwise proven he should have died in prison as far as I'm concerned.

But maybe if we had hung him as we used to we wouldn't be having this trouble.
