OT. Lennies Rocket Sprockets

Apologies to post here.

I have a batch of 50 sets of my cam sprockets available for sale.

Retail pricing is yet to be determined as I have just had a price rise with my supplier for the latest batch (grrrrrrrrr) and I need to build in a margin for me to make something at wholesale pricing.

Payment is via lenmor@activ.com.au.

Please refer to BMW R1100, R1150, R1200 or cam sprockets in the subject line for any emails.

Good news is that Foster Performance have done a lot of dyno work and the FRK module will be available for the for correct tuning along with sprockets for the ONE STOP shoppers.

My web site will be rewritten in the next 6 weeks to allow for credit card payment or I will organise an EFTPOS device to cater for payment here.

Is the install pretty straightforward? I have the FRK unit and am wondering what the difference will be by adding the sprockets? Also, any chance of it voiding my warranty?

Rick, I gotta ask. How did you rack up 18,000 posts? You aren't spending much of your time here.

Rick,

The install is straight forward butyou need to be careful when removing the reatining bolts and marking the chain for the cam sprocket arrows.

Many here have done the self install and I have installed a few sets here.

It will enhance throttle response and add to the midrange and smooth the running of the engine. One gear higher type of riding is the norm and there are reports of better fuel consumption from my brother with this style of riding.

Not sure about warranty though you need to ask the dealer and if they fit maybe not.

Let me know what you want to do.

Well, I'm on my third 911 since I found this place in 2001. And once I'd worked my way through everything you can possibly run into on those cars on the tech board, I got into the off-topic section.

Having been in the motor vehicle business for 30 years on the distributor side, the last person to ask is the dealer. The dealer will not be making the ultimate decision, the distributor (BMW Motorrad USA) will make the decision. If you want to check in advance of any engine modification, you should check with them. Having said that, I can tell you that if you experience ANY engine difficulty during the warranty period that could conceivably linked to the sprockets, cam timing, cam chains, cam chain tensioners or any other related part, BMW will likely excuse themselves from paying for the repairs. During the warranty period, it is better to err on the side of caution, unless the prospect of paying for any future, related repair doesn't faze you. Then modify at will.

cageyar,

this is true and correct.

my clutch went with a known issue and they tried to weasle out with all the engine mods.

My dealer got it through with BMW Australia.

Just depends.

I have about 150 sets in bikes worldwide and no issues to date.

The sprockets are 57 Rockwell and the stock are 10 rockwell which is the equivalent of aluminium.

I can vouch for both the performance enhancement and the ease of install, if you have a good handle on technical stuff.

It's straight forward and the results are fascinating on both the 11S and the GS I had the sprockets installed in... better in the 12GS than the 11S, I'd like to say...

If anyone needs details, just ask... I'll be home again next week and gladly help if I can.

I put the sprokets in my 1100S about 6K miles ago. Absolutely no problems & there was a mild performance gain. I'm happy.

I've had Lennie's sprockets installed for about 7k miles, the FRK for 3k on my 03 BCP. Wonderful combination with a dramatic mid-range burst. My plugs burn beautifully, textbook appearance. There are some excellent install instructions on this forum.

FYI, I'm in the process of modifying my intake to an external scoop to get rid of the two 90-degree intake turns into the airbox. Acquired a scratched-up left-side fairing panel for $50 to experiment with. When finished, the air will take no more than a 23-degree turn into the airbox, much more volume and dramatically less turbulence. Am friends with a good paint and body guy who'll redo the panel and paint the exposed area of the scoop for about $150. He has the Titan Silver formula. However, the place in Dallas that was going to help me vacuum form the ABS has begged out because of the economy, only doing work now for production runs. If anyone knows of someone who does that, let me know.

Well, if I can get my FRK unit performing reliably, then I'll probably try the sprockets. I just don't want to go messing with anything until I figure out why I no longer feel the effect of my FRK. Bike feels exactly like it did before I installed it.

Question Ok Now...

Greetings Rick,

The Power FRK is not something that needs attention once it is installed correctly - Which is easy!

If it worked and your bike is not performing well you need to diagnose it.

It is Plug N Play - No adjustments - We have 0 failed units.

What are your symptoms?

Please feel free to call out tech line for help.

718-468-4680

We can and are willing to help diagnose your issue.

Let's get your bike running optimally

-------------------

Have you pressure washed your bike?

Good question - believe me, we are seeing more issues with water migration into the OEM electrical connectors. We call it the "Home Depot washing".

Thanks. It feels like it's back on this week. I'm doing my 12k mile service in a few days and then riding to LA and back next week. I'll be keeping an eye on things and then report back after I have another 1k miles on her in a week.

Wish mine was that pretty, but it works. If I can find someone to do fabrication, will continue to experiment with a radical scoop that has the mouth farther back with no more than a single, 23-degree turn into the airbox.

It has to be custom. What I'd like to see is a photo of the entire intake back to the airbox.
