Best Brake pads

I hope this doesn't turn into an oil or tire thread, but are there any better pads than stock for aggressive street riding? I remember Nate recommending something, but I can't seem to find the thread.

Put EBC HH on the BCR, much stronger feel, but a little more delay in heavy wet.

I recently put on some Carbone Lorraine pads from Beemerboneyard and really like the feel. I like the fact they don't "grab" when you first pull the lever. Seems to give a more controlled feel.

Dunlopad DP Sport are the best, in my opinion. Good initial bite, good and consistent feel, linear response, good wear and little dust. Both in wet and dry.

EBC I have never liked. Wooden feel, non-linear response and outright dangerous in the wet. (cold, wet discs and pads: pull lever. Nothing. 1001. 1002. Oh ****!!, where's my front end going?)

Carbon Lorraine, never liked them either. Extremely non-linear response. Very little braking when cold, massive braking when hot. You can feel the behavior change as the pads and discs heat up when braking. Very annoying on the street.

DP Sport Pads

DP sintered pads are made of a complex mix of metallic powders (to absorb heat), refractory material (to provide friction), friction modifiers (to alter feel), graphites (to minimise rotor wear and eliminate noise), mixed together, pressed to form the shape, then sintered at high temperature and pressure.

Sport HH+

High-friction front pad for street use.
High-performance, HH+ rated compound.
No brake fade.
No brake dust.
Quick break-in immediate response.
Hi-tech ceramic heat shield.
Available and recommended for most late model sport bikes where performance is the prime requirement.

Just been on the DP site it's not listing pads for R12S, would they be the same offering for the R11S?

Kieran, the pads for the R12S are the same as the >2001 R11S non-ABS, the K12S, R12GS and most other models using 320mm discs and Brembo EVO calipers. Should be the SDP 641.

The R12 S and R12 ST use the same front pads. I didn't check the rear yet. DP does list the pads for the ST

i think the heat shield is the important feature to reduce brake fluid heating.

Correct. That'd be a DPxxx (without the leading S).

Side effect of it is they don't squeal either.

Since you are getting some work done by SJBMW, why not ask them what they are currently using?

I found the reco from N8

I highly reccommend the Vesrah brake pads for your R12S. They are the best I have ever used! I will get back to you on the exact ones, but they are considered their street compund, but I race with them.
of course there are 6 different versions listed on the Vesrah website, N8 which one was it?

You can't compare track and street use. What works on track does not necessarily work for the street and vice versa. And that particularly holds up for brakes and tires.
