BMW R1100S / R1200S (/ S1000RR?) Tech Forum
So, where does the R1100S / R1200S Tech Forum go from here?
Just curious given the forum focus on the R-Series boxer engine S models in light the pending arrival of the S-Series in-line 4 engine RR model(s). |

S Series is a new forum somewhere else, just like the K Series. This is an R forum for R bikes.

There's a K forum here on Pelican that is rarely used. I suppose we could do an S forum, but if the K traffic is an indication, why bother?

Funny thing, just last week I was thinking about the changing character of this board and posted a write-up to my website. I think the brand-new interest in civility here is just one indication of changes.
Many of the folks who bought the R1100S in 1999 are from the go-fast crowd. Some are still around. But many new people are here and they and their interests in an 11-12 year old economy-super-bike model are different. For sure, not the same interest in clutches, chips, $1500 shocks, and tales from the track. More interest in maintaining fine old bikes and making sure timing chain tensioners are working. That's not the whole story, but these changes are taking place. As I see it, continually adding new models and the interest of their owners eventually confuses the board and diminishes it. I'd draw the line just after the R1200S although a bit of glamor from the handful of HP2Ss is nice too and maybe they deserve a home here. My 2-cents. |

no kidding, although I can't wait to hear a ride review from a real consumer, what are they going to blog about? how fast they got it up to, how easy they can spin the tire in slick mode? how much the Akrapovic and CF farkles cost? I think the dialogue will run out pretty quick.
