Will this Battery fit in the R1200S

Will this Battery fit in the R1200S?

Universal Power Group, UB12220, seen here: Universal Power Group - Sealed Lead Acid

It fits an R1200RT but requires a shim as it smaller than the stock one:

I don't believe so.
If you cross reference the BMW part#, 61 21 7 661 896 to a Yuasa, you get:

YTX-14BS

If you cross reference that number to the UPG batteries you get:

UTX14, UTX14-BS or UBVT-8 which have the following dimensions:

5.93 X 3.46 X 5.81
6.00 X 3.44 X 5.75
5.85 X 3.45 X 5.71

So should I just get an Odysey PC 535 and call it a day?

This thing is simply the ultimate. Get it and be a happy bunny for at least 5 years.

NOTE: Not all Odysseys are FULLY charged as delivered (got mine from Motorworks - England) nor the on board Denso alternator can do the job. Use some pro charger and fill it to the max.

whenever access to the battery is difficult, don't take the chance, get an Odyssey and you should be good to go for at least 6 years. I have 8 on mine in the 1100S and will probably need to replace it in the spring
