Thanks for info on screens.
I prefer the smaller screen on the S to the one on my old RS which was noisy and turbulent. I have found the noise seems to come from the neck shoulder area and this changes quite often for no other reason than helmet off at a stop, back on and the noise has increased. I can only assume that the realtionship jacked to helmet has some how changed. I put an Airhawk seat cover which raised me slightly on the 1100S and again the helmet was quieter so small changes seem to have an effect. Your 1200R is one of the best bike I have ever ridden. I felt it was so good it would turn average riders into good riders. Graelin |

Try this next time you are out: Pull the jacket DOWN as far as possible. If you have a waist belt tighten it to keep it in place. I've found that the looser the material is over the shoulders the more buffeting you will get. Same jacket just a different position can really make a difference.

If I were totally redoing my mix of bikes I'd probably buy one of those r1200r bikes and compliment it with an f800gs.
I hate to make you cringe, but the r1200r seems to be the Harley cruiser of the bunch. Fortunately, I'm still happy with my Harley.

Hey Naked, great review of your R1200R!
I hope you're still as keen on it. I have owned my black '07 since August 2009 and have covered 3000 fantastic miles. Like every R enthusiast, I love the looks, handling, power and comfort. If only I could get a screen that suits....! How do you find the screen on yours? Do you know who makes it? It looks small enough to deflect some of the blast from the chest at speed but does it cause any of that infernal buffeting? I have completely removed my OEM touring screen now and I must say that it's a joy not to have the noise in the helmet that it caused. It's a bit of a nuisance at speed though without any wind deflection at all. I would like to do some touring this summer so longer faster journeys will be made. Needless to say, I don't want to spoil the look of the bike with one of those massive aftermarket screens! |
