Cathcart rides the WSBK BMW for Sport Rider

The moto-journalist, Alan Cathcart, test rode Xaus' WSBK S1000RR at the Lausitzring Eurospeedway. It's a very interesting article but by far, the best segment is from Troy Corser himself who comments on riding the RR, apparently after Cathcart's ride because his comments seem in repsonse to Sir Alan's impressions. In his comments, Corser confirms that traction/tire problems have been an issue as some on the forum have speculated. Also, the article claims 203 HP for the Xaus bike and Corser explains how everything in the engine was light leading to easy revs but not much tractibility. Also, in the track photos, one can see Becker Carbon on the fairing who apparently makes the CF body parts for the RR.

Becker Carbon - innovation through competence

Anyway, it's a very interesting tandem of articles in the December 2009 issue of Sport Rider.

Does anyone know when somebody is going to test a production version of that bike?

Harnessing the excessive hp will continue to be a problem with lite bikes w/ lite riders. Corser literally tore up tyres this year with the hp produced by the I4. Tyre compounds with both grip and strength are lacking. Just wait till the squids get this bike. Burn-outs from the stoplight will be common place. Traction control limits the hp to the rear wheel. Why have it if you can't get it where you need it.

Some mag testers should get their hands on production models some time the later part of this month.
