adding a rear top mount case from an rt

Has anyone successfully modified an RT top case to fit on an r12s?
I have been contemplating doing this mod. I have seen the pillion bags and other methods. I really like the k1300s rear luggage bracket and the r1200rt system.
Would the rear exhaust heat be too much of an issue to do something similar?

Thanks a bunch Droptarotter. It is great to see pics of the bike with all the bells and whistles. As usually the vendors have thumbnails for their product literature.
