I would think they mean you can pick it up in either Atlanta or Texas. No?

If you look at the other items he has for sale, most have a Shreveport location and some say Atlanta or Tyler, TX. Perhaps the dealer in Shreveport has multiple locations that don't all have BMW?

The Acid Green is way cooler than that uninspired attempt at a Motorsport paint scheme. $750? It's not worth $75.

Well Jeff, the S1000RR takes the record for fastest yo hit the ebay channel. Not even the HP2Sport got there that fast. You 20k price tag only puts it 4k below the msrp on the HP2Sport.

it's not a matter of how much I have or don't have in my R12S, I am at about $20K total, which would be a lot more if I let somebody else do the work on it. I have no issues with that either, because it is one of a kind and a pretty trick one of a kind at that.

the issue is the the SKRR was touted as being "affordable" at about $13K which I proclaimed to be a joke because nobody would want the base model anyway, and that price didn't include the "fees" when you combine that with the fact that you are going to have to do something about the hideous pregnant exhaust, you are at $20K

now compound that with the fact that a new 2009 CBR1000 can be had for $7400 and you see the problem. I ran a poll here that had 4 intended purchasers, so we aren't the source of their volume. They have sold 2500 so far worldwide, and thats great, but I think the back of the envelope math came up with something like 100,000 units to recover the investment. this is no slam dunk by any means.

Just jerking your chain shreddr...mostly.
But back to the S1000RR, BMW knows their market, they know their cost, so they know they will sell some at retail, but most are going to sell for less than retail. This is a new market for BMW dealers, and I'm sure corporate has told them to move product and make their money on volume just like the competition. BMW will always be a little more, if for no other reason than it's a BMW.
I think your 100,000 units is off, way off. BMW is a very savvy company and for them to bet the farm based on selling 100,000 units of anything just to recoup their R&D is off the mark.

somebody here threw out a number of $250M invested. I don't know the margins on motorcycle sales, but even if it was 25% to the factory, and the average selling price was $15K they would need to sell 70,000 units

Remember what Bill Clinton said, "It's the ECONOMY Stupid." Right now we have too few $$$'s chasing a lot of I wanna new bike sellers.

I say wait for the rebates and the 0% financing. For 100,000 units required to sell--it will come.

I don`t think being on ebay means anything at all. Just another channel to advertise and sell product like trader online. Honda is always going to be cheaper than BMW.....always. There are honda people and bmw people.
