He lost it coming out of a corner that was rather bumpy, apparently due to a malfunctioning (or under-performing) stock steering damper.

Nate has a severe concussion and some hemorrhaging in his brain but is ok, otherwise.

The bike, on the other hand, is not so well off. After some 15 cartwheels, it's done and over with.

CCS Race at New Jersey Motorsports Park...

He low sided at high speed and the bike cartwheeled over 100 feet and N8 was flung a goodly distance as well. He gave the thumbs up while in the ambulance, but the get off was so severe it was thought that he must be hurt somewhere. The good news is that after X rays and cat scan, Nate appears not to have any broken bones and miraculously, no serious soft tissue damage either.

Due to the concussion, he is complaining of a severe head ache and neck pain though. Not enough, however, to stop him from watching video over and over again, trying to analyze the crash.

The bike does not look as bad as one would assume, but it's done.

Yes, he said it was a stock steering damper. Those things are engineered to protect the manufacturer (liability) more than the rider/bike. No good for track use. Told him to take it easy. Brain stuff is not to be trifled with or rushed.

Wow, really sorry to hear about this and I'm VERY glad to hear it's no worse.

Bikes, especially track bikes, are disposable. Riders aren't.

From Nates facebook page... Posted Tuesday.

Quote:
Home now. Rung my bell good and have some blood or something stupid on the brain. More or less a severe concussion. No big deal. We figured out after horus of video, that massive bump exiting chicane (T4) finally caught up to our stock steering dampner. Oh well. 15 kartwheels later and totalled RR, should have had a dampner.
