HP2 Sport on Ebay: Whose was it?

I see Max has a HP2 Sport listed that was returned under the Lemon Law. Anyone know who it belonged to? Vin shows New Jersey.

#16 was originally titled to Pelican Jeff Williams in California. Now some of you can see why I wanted to track the VIN on these bikes. It will become more important as time goes by. Jeff had serious problems with the ECU and some bad downloads that were mistakenly loaded by his dealer. I think there was also some cf damage on the nose piece caused by a knee puck. It is non-ABS. It should go for no more than $14,000.00 IMO. Jeff did remove the canister.

Very cool keeping the VIN's, and based on the almost certain knowledge that the air cooler twin's days are numbered I'm also thinking about adding on to the stable, but not till I see it at around the 10k price point.

Bidding failed to meet the reserve at 12.4 USD. About 1.6 short of this bike's true vale considering its history. Not sure this one will be worry-free for the astute BMW R-bike rider.

I'd say 12.4 is about right.

For a "lemon law" buy-back, I'd be inclined to agree. They really should have crushed it.

I dunno. If the bike has no damage, has new tires, an almost 3 year warranty, it seems like a good deal. I assume BMW fixed whatever the problem was....right? Or is that too big an assumption?

Why couldn't they fix it for the original owner is my question?

Well, on the 2nd outing, three bidders hit the 14k number that I suggested wold be the most I'd pay for a lemon-ade buy-back bike with no ABS. Looks like MAX BMW is looking for a non-questioning sucker to come along. Are any Pelicans bidding on this bike?

They should have taken the money and run.

the problem with Williams bike was all in the ECU. Max has a line on ECU rewrites, so I would imagine it might even run almost as good as mine!

I gotta think once the bike has a "Lemon Tag," which they are obligated to disclose, the bikes value drops considerably.

whats a lemon? they dont get lemon titles, and who knows the deal Williams cut with the dealer, I recall him saying he got two bikes and one of them the S1000RR. lemon designation surely requires a little legal muscle on the part of the guy returning something to a dealer who doesnt want it back.

I searched the Vin # and came up with a list of "lemon law" buybacks from BMW in NJ. The text stated the vehicles status must be listed as a "Lemon Law buyback" when the vehicle is resold....Just relaying what I read.

I was considering this bike. Thinking of upgrading from my '04 BCR. The BCR is running great but I'm getting the urge to upgrade/try something new.
Should I stay away from this "lemon law" ebay HP2 and wait for another used one?
Can't afford a new one.
