Wink (TOT) Bought a new love

Don't tell me, that you can't buy you a love. I did it today. After 24 years of abstinence, I started all over again, today.
Will be a cruel time to learn everything new again.

Well, the first three chords that left the Roland Amp were good and heavy enough to shock my dear neighbours (aged over 70).

I decided to spend way less time in front of a TV or computer screen and do something more useful instead. It was a gut feeling to start again with music. Comments welcome. Just look at the beauty.

Cool, I had one just like it in Greenburst. Well made guitar - good luck on a musical New Year.

BTW - if you stay serious with it, you're gonna probably cheat on her 2-3 times before 2012 rolls around.

They're an addiction.

Me too!

I got the (re)bug after 45 years. Went out and bought an acoustic and then had to have an electric , then two, then three! It's like motorcycles: one can't have just one! Next thing will be the amps!

Good luck!

Thanks for your comments. Hey Dennis, those 3 look great and they cover a very wide range of music and sound styles !
I think even if they are not played, they are very nice deco items as well.
My favourite would be the ES335.

Any more of such nice pics available here among the pelican members ?

Back to my new aquirement: I was astonished, that the difference in quality between this korean made Epiphone (well it was NOT manufactured by the allies of Mrs. Palin in the north ) and the Gibson Original is so small, compared to the big difference in price. As Epiphone was bought by the Gibson Company long time ago, a lot of the parts are true originals and the instrument as a whole cannot be described as a mere copy. As a proof you can read the original "Les Paul" logo on the neck.

My problems: House dragon is upset, espescially about the Amp. Have to start my re-beginner's practise sessions when she is working late. Just sent a prayer that neighbours will be hard of hearing. Well that feeling is still just the same as it was in my youth. Some things never change.

There are some really nice headphone amps out there.

For more guitars amongst Pelicaners there is a thread here Show Your Git-Fiddles!

It looks like Itchybro started a new wave in Pelican Land with his "Where I've been" thread. Congrats on your new love, Sofatester.

I suggest that you seize the moment and fill the residence up with amplifiers using them as end tables or as warnings to non-believers, and in the case of tube amps, strategic employment as space heaters. Enjoy your new Epi !

I have really got to finish my Black Beauty. I bought new Gibson pup covers, bridge and tail since the PO tried to replate them (which was a disaster). The only thing is now I'm torn between tone and cosmetics because the aluminum stop tail is supposed to have better tone.

It's a fretless wonder so it's not really getting played anyway.

@shreddr: *ROFL* Yeah, in approx. five years when I'm able to use an improvement. But then it will be different humbuckers first, I guess. As I said, maybe in five years, when I'm playing well again.

The Black beauty in that picture surely was a regrettable sale. I sold my last guitar in 1986 (it was an Ibanez strat ) to buy a Yamaha XS850........ I was a young student and needed the money.....

@geo: Even more *ROFL* But I still have to start again at "zero" so within the first months (just starting) I'm happy that few people hear all the wrong notes.

Gorgeous axe. I've got the exact same Epiphone Les Paul in black. From your pic it looks like someone has already changed out the crappy Epiphone tuners for locking grovers or something? Makes a big difference with helping to keep it in tune. Enjoy!

Yes, one of my favorite stories relates to Trout Mask Replica and the following legend.

"Beefheart spent only eight and a half hours writing an album called Trout Mask Replica. It then took him six months to teach his band how to play it."

I thought Frank Zappa wrote Trout Mask Replica.

You are right that he was involved with TMR Bob, but he was the producer of the recording rather than the composer. Zappa and the Captain had quite a history they say. I liked the Captains's more mainstream stuff like "Safe as Milk" named appropriately so.
