1200R Tap
I'm working on a friends R1200R replacing the rear tranny output shaft
seal. The pivot adjuster for the swing arm is is 24 X 1.25 mm thread. I'd like to clean the threads up on the rear sub frame before putting it together. Anyone have any idea on finding a tap ? Thanks Lance

Go to a machine shop where you see some bikes parked out front and bring the sub frame with you. Go in the employee entrance and ask for the supervisor. Ask if you, or someone there, can run a tap through the hole to clean up the threads. Chances are you'll get it done for nothing. It usually works at our shop.

If that doesn't work there's a couple 24mm taps on ebay for about $40.

tap
I removed the swing arm without taking the sub-frame off. No need to take it off with the swing arm. Typical BMW they used an odd ball thread pitch. Their engineers suck. A 20.00 dollar tap becomes a 50.00 dollar tap.
