Power Commander III USB, control panel question

I have a Power Commander III USB, from 2004. Anyone know what the 'O2 Out' indicator tells you on the control panel?.

It's my understanding that the grey area is controlled by the O2 sensor while the while one is controlled by the map. The O2 out means that the system defaults to the map not the sensor.

Shoot an e-mail to the powercommander guys if in doubt, I find them available and always right-quick on their response.

Blue is rich, Red is lean(compared to your AFR setting). O2 Out should toggle quite frequently between the 2.

Right Steve.

Indeed 14.0 is lean. I set my closed loop to 13.1 and I had also had to rich up the open loop map up high quite a bit.

In internal combustion engines, normally 12.5 is considered on the rich side for power and 13.7 on the lean side for economy. In aviation, where engines can make a difference between life and death, anything over 13.7 is foolish and potentially dangerous.

Thumbs up Hmmm.... Info Please?

Greetings RB Mann,

I can say with certainty that you are Pedicle Screwed!

How is your back upgrade?

------
---

Can you provide the model number from the PC Unit -and the full screenshot so I can see the firmware version.

I can then assist.

Be well!

Nitro-

Thanks, at idle the A/F is around 13.6 and the indicator is blue then the indicator goes red and the A/F goes up at least a half point into the 14s. Ever time it goes red the idle get lumpy. Have never seen it go red if the RPMs are above 1500.

Robert or should that be B-cup-

Speaking of Pedicle, life is wonderful. I have not been this pain-free in 15+ year and I can still bend enough to touch the floor with straight legs. I will try to get a better screen shot tomorrow, thanks.

Thumbs up Outdated and Pediculious

Greetings RBMann,

The gray cells by Throttle Position and RPM are controlled by the OEM ECU Mapping. They can not be modified.

The tune-able white cells can modify the OEM ECU Mapping output to the injectors +/-.

The software you have is outdated.

The fields - 02 Out and Open Loop have been removed as it caused too much confusion with the owners and dyno tuners. Useless and very vague info of the bells and whistles category.

Upgrade your software for the Power Commander Control Panel:

PC III USB Control Center Software 3.2.1 Release Date 05/13/2010

Depending on your PC III build date you might have more fields that are not grey that you can modify with the 3.2.1 version.

Note: Please understand that some of the PC maps in the PC database have extreme variants in the fueling values between the left and right cylinder (Cylinder Trims). I can not explain these extreme variants!

In tuning for max power, you must tune both cylinder's fueling values to eliminate or offset normal fuel delivery varients. If it results in extreme variants look for an organic issue like bad spark plugs, coil, out of sync throttle bodies or dysfunctional injectors.

Here is a screen shot of the 3.2.1. Control Panel - Note the variant values:

Left Cylinder Fueling Table:

Right Cylinder Fueling Table:

Get your bike on a dyno and have it tuned!

BTW: I am glad your Lumbar Stabilization surgery was successful Unlike the HP-2 Sport you will not need a 30,000 mile tear down!

Thanks for your help Robert. I do notice there are some values added in the gray area of the PC base map for the R1100S. Why are they there if you cannot change things in the gray area?

Changing the A/F setting will affect the gray area, correct?

They do not want you to! Remember that a 0 (Zero) indicates NO modification to the OEM mapping.

RBMann,
Sorry, I can not speak for Power Commander and their reasons. As it is easy to do and can be done with the Motronic, I suspect that it is due to their concerns with governmental, local and state laws worldwide. Remember DynoJet/Power Commander and MANY Dealers who installed PCs were heavily fined by CARB due to non-compliance.

No, the values can not be changed in the grey area! See below!
Greetings RBMann,

Upgrade the Control Panel to the 3.2.1. version and see if the gray area is reduced.

1. First save your maps to a file
2. Remove the earlier Control Panel version from your computer using the "Remove Programs" feature in the computer's control panel
3. Install the 3.2.1. version
4. Reload your map.

NOTE: I have seen some PCIII USB versions (Build dates) with a limited amount and also no grey cells.

Let me know your success!
