I had to replace one. I don't think I got a name for it but the dealer knows what it is. Inexpensive. Either take the dealer one or just look it up there. On my 05 there were like two on one side and three on the other. I got a spare just incase. Hope that helps a little.

The dealer isn't going to have them in stock in any event--you need to get into mail ordering parts. And, learning how to determine what you need using realoem.com

next question. what the hell is this thing called? it's the attachment point for the main fairing directly behind the roundel. it's fallen off.

i have spare fairings. so will have something to cover the bike. but just don't see this listed in the microfilm. suspect it's something bmw never figured on breaking off.

you can use epoxy, will hold that thing forever. Epoxy is about $3 at Wal-Mart

How much of that is gone; the captive nut/spring clip or the whole thing that was plastic welded to the inside of the fairing? The captive nut is a common item, should be able to find that in any good autoparts store. Take another along as an example.

Doubt that you'll be able to purchase the plastic bracket. Hmmm. I'd try to fabricate something from a bit of suitable scrap (plastic or metal - what ever is to hand) and epoxy it in like andrisport suggested. Helps to have a farmer back-ground, make do or do without.

money sent.

the whole thing is gone. nothing left but a couple flat spots where the epoxy used to be. have been wandering around the hardware store looking for something i can adapt, glue and then zip tie to the frame.

i have a complete spare set of plastics. so there is no hurry.
