Longer sidestand
I'm tired of using a block of wood.
Anyone have a part # or other info for a sidestand that will be about 1 inch longer than stock? Thanks, John |

I don't have the part #, but I had no problem when I went to my dealer and asked for the side stand that came with the sport suspension. It is about 1" longer than the stock (non-sport) stand.

Heck, what I would really like is a slightly longer *center* stand. Anyone have any ideas about that?

Taller Center Stand - DIY
Take the stock center stand to any welder out of the phone book. Ask them to weld 3/8ths inch steel plates to the bottom of the stand's feet, cut to the same shape as the feet. File a small 45 degree angle on the leading corner of the "new" feet so that the stand "rolls" up smoothly when putting the bike up on the center stand. This gets the rear wheel nicely off the ground on a sport suspension equipped S. I've done this on my SBX - works great.
Welder should cost maybe $30. |
