Replacing the Carbon Bits of My S "Light"

I’ve begun to de-carbonise my S “Light”. The OEM Carbon Fiber bits are showing signs of wear sooner than I had hope. So, I’ve decided to selve them, and turn to the standard OEM plastic and metal bits. Which is why I turning to the board for help, I’d like to have a black plastic seat cover, but rather not pay for a new one. So if some one is out there looking to sell a black seat cover drop me a post. I'm also looking for a pair of the hear guard, they don't have to be perfect I plan to paint them (as I can't leave good enough alone).

Then it wouldn't look like Carbon Fiber?!
No, because the carbon fiber is cracking, painting it wouldn't stop this, just hide it, for a while...

Are you talking about the Cowl cover?
Just leave it off! Or get the Corbin Smugger and a new seat at the same time...

How's your tank panel holding up? Front fairing piece?

The most noticeable cracking in on the nose; I think it cracking is caused by high-speed winds. The flex of (or the lack there of) in the carbon fiber nose "cone" is causing stress fractures to form around the headlight. The heel guards too are crack, however this is caused by me pressing my heels up agains them, while chanting "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home" in attempt to get out of speed tickets.

It seem I have a local source of metal and plastic bits. Which should allow for the end of this thread.

About the corbin: Not on my bike, no way, no how. They are heavy, over priced, to hard and fook-N-A ugly; No thanks! (that's my opinion I could be wrong)

Ok I know this might get ya steamed, but my dealer gave me all the black plastic parts along with the carbon goodies that came with my black S "light". I just assumed it was susposed to come that way. Either my dealer was really nice or your dealer took you for a ride on the parts. Maybe you should give them a call and ask where your black plastic parts are?

Yep,
I to recieved the old "heavy" black plastic parts along with the CF ones. Have you tried a warranty replacement of these parts? I have had my seat cowl replaced twice now.
I have installed only the seat cowl and the small bits ( heel guards, shock protector, and triple clamp cover) the rest stays in a box.

Fuel to the fire??!!

I also received all the original plastic bits when I bought my "light". In the interim the CF "nose cone" has been replaced under warranty when it started to delaminate.

I too have the nose cone (already installed), tank top (swap in last week), but not the seat cover or the heel guards. So those to parts were/are the goal. I'll have the heal guards painted and I just likt eh looks of the bike with the seat cover.

The warrenty is an angle I haven't thought of, gonna try that.

Question for other Light owner did you get the CF belly pan thing?

I've got the pan as well. The leading edge started to delaminate at one point and was replaced under warrant. I haven't had any further problems, although the bike only has about 6000 miles on it.

you work for the dealer and they still wont cut you a deal?

seems like a stroll to your parts counter would yield a hefty discount no?

Mark up on OEM parts isn't is high as one would think. Even at cost BMW parts are $$$.

No, I wanted this little project to be cheap & easy.
